Interview with Lele Iturrioz
1. Of course, I must start off with the most basic of questions. When and/or How did you know you wanted to be a writer?
When I was 13 my parents got divorced and books became my escape. Every story, every brave character, etc.; helped me realize everything was going to be Ok. It was then, when I knew I wanted to grow up and be a writer. That way I could return the favor and write a story that could help someone the way many books helped me.
2. What was the inspiration behind the Seasons Within series?
One day I was walking around with my headphones while listening to Breath of Life by Florence and the Machine (Epic song!). The street was covered with hundreds of leafs and when the wind came, it made all the leaves fly. In my perspective and with the headphones it looked as if they were dancing, so I lifted my arms and danced among the flying leafs. Besides the fact that I looked like a crazy person swinging my arms to the sky, for a moment I felt like I was the one moving them.
And that’s how Gaia, my main character was born, a girl who had the power to move Nature in a world that was possible.
3. Are any of your characters in this series based on anyone in your life?
Yes. Priyam, Adri and Eva are based on my best friends. Veter and the twins are a mix of my two brothers. The rest are a little bit of everything. Things I pick from strangers, friends, fears, wants, dreams, needs, etc.
4. Did you do a lot of research for your book(s)? If so, what did you research?
I don’t research much since the world was created by me. But I do outline. And A LOT! I spend three to four months of outlining and building characters before I jump to the next book.
5. With so many books being adapted to film and television, if your book(s) were to be adapted for film or television, which adaptation would you prefer? Why?
Television! Unlike TV seasons, movies are 2-2:30 hours, so they tend to take so much from the story and the characters. In TV, you can expand and follow every character’s detail exactly like in the books. And well, I love details.
6. Since we are on the topic of adaptations, who would you cast to portray your characters? Do you have a dream cast?
Zoey Deutch --- G,
Sonakshi Sinha --- Priyam
Ni Ni --- Shui
Vladimir Yaglych --- Veter
Erin Heatherton --- Willow
Octavio Pizano --- Donovan
David Mazouz --- Hunter
Bella Heathcote --- Pink
Harrison Gilbertson --- Floyd
and Theo James as Pratt (or anyone he wants. He’s such a cutie)
As for Edan, he’s for the reader to imagine him.

7. Let's get geeky shall we... Your all time favorite book and author? Why?
J.K Rowling! I’m a major Harry Potter fan. I’m from the generation that had the same age Harry had when it came out, so I read a fantasy world that knew exactly how I felt through all my teens. It enchanted me.

8. What new TV shows are you most excited about?
I heard Netflix was going to make The Witcher and…OMG! I hope they do!
I also love GOT, Sense8 and Criminal Minds. (But I need to stop watching CM since now every person is a unsub in my head)
9. Last but not least... When your first book got published, where were you and what were you doing and/or what was your reaction?
I was having lunch with my mom when my cousin call me super excited because she just bought my book. From there… I don’t really remember what happened. Lol. I was too panicky and happy to register anything else.
10. What are you working on next? That's if you can talk about it... 😊
I’m working on Summer (Seasons Within, #3), on Our ¼ Life Crisis, a NA romance/comedy novel about what it is to turn 25 and feel completely lost in life, and on Duality, a NA fantasy series, co-written with an incredible author, Adriana González Márquez.
