Kill the courier, retrieve the relic, collect the money.

Bounty hunter Janis Torzen finally has a chance to free himself from his indentured servitude to the mob. The brutal weather on planet Urrak is as unforgiving as the mob boss Janis Torzen works for, so of course a sudden sandstorm upsets his best laid plans. To make things worse, the courier, Everell, turns out to be a beautiful, smart-mouthed archeologist who has her own plans for the money. Unfortunately, powerful people will kill to possess the relic Everell carries—everyone from government officials to the social elite, and they will stop at nothing to get it.

Now on the run, Janis and Everell are forced to depend on each other to escape from Nadir Space Port. But when Everell and the relic are stolen from Janis, he must go back to the very man he’s trying to get away from and offer a deal with the devil. He’s got nothing to lose but his own life, so he bluffs the mob, willing to sacrifice his future to save the woman he’s fallen in love with—a woman he’s still not sure he can trust.

It’s a crazy plan, one so crazy it just might work. If he succeeds, it will pay out big for his wallet and his heart—if he doesn’t die trying. But with a bounty this high, it’s worth any risk…

*Quotes from Relic Bounty*

Janis smiled through clenched teeth before stepping forward, moving to take his place beside Everell. “You should be careful, boy, pointing a weapon at a bounty hunter. You’re inviting death.”

“I can be very persuasive when necessary. It may seem cruel and it may border on torture, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise.” Captain Trin stepped in close to Janis once more, her finger coming to the edge of his visor and tilting his face down until the two of them were a couple of centimeters apart. “I’m going to enjoy seeing what’s underneath this.”

“I had hoped to let you live. Now, that’s not really an option.” Her features relaxed but her flashing glare displayed twin pools of hatred. “Don’t worry, though, it won’t be quick.” Trin promised with a seductive whisper and a wink.

Trin’s blaster was no longer pointed at him but at Everell’s head, which she was clutching in a chokehold. The bloodstained gloves were gone, but the glint of murder in the depths of Captain Trin’s shrewd blue eyes remained bright.

Janis wanted to stop Everell, to tell her that he could figure out a way for them to escape together. Maybe she was trying to tell Janis he was the one who needed saving.

“You’re not a hero; you’re a bounty hunter. Start acting like one.” It was a punch in the gut. Janis knew better. Heroes ended up dead, and it was usually a bounty hunter who made sure of it.

*My Thoughts*

Note: This Review contains NO spoilers

Write Christmas is a winter wonderland for readers who are looking to get back their Christmas spirit. Abigail Nicholson, Abby, is the main character that the reader will follow, as she brings back the meaning of cheer and joy of the holidays. The prologue introduces the setting of Winter Glen, a small but growing town in the middle of the cold season. Warm and cozy with her parents Samuel and Stella, a young Abby is a stary eyed child who is excited to revel in the wonderous ideas of her father’s Christmas spirit and art. Fast Forward to Abigail as an adult, she is much more mature and although she will surround herself in holiday cheer, she cannot bring herself to feel the joy she once did as a child.

Write Christmas is descriptive and immersive with the thoughts and feelings of characters exposed on every page for the readers to empathize with. The introduction of Abby and the supporting characters such as her daughter Chloe, old friends Darla, Eddie, and Cameron is fluid and well laid out. These characters are welcoming, cheery, and so festive, that they exude familial aura left and right. All this combined makes the conflict of Write Christmas even more compelling. The story is balanced with details showing the stark contrast between the Winter Glen Abby is familiar with versus the other Winter Glen that is dreary and colorless.

It completes the spirit of the holiday season. Write Christmas is enjoyable through and through, fluid, and vivid. The brevity of each chapter leaves me wanting more and builds up to a beautiful, sound resolution.
