Plot Summary:
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

*My Thoughts*
So... We continue to get caught up with reviews. But, hey, better late than never. 😁 Well, where should I begin? Despite the different reviews, I enjoyed this different vision of the King Arthur story/myth. It's definitely different. One aspect that I really liked is that there was no romantic theme in this story. Yup! Absolutely no romance. Of all the various adaptations of this story that I have watched, there is always a romantic theme to it. But this one... None.
So... What can I say... I enjoyed the action scenes. I loved the casting. Great performances considering that the character development was somewhat lacking. The world building was enough for this action/adventure fantasy. There was a good amount of humorous banter among the characters to keep it lighthearted considering the dark theme of the story. The story itself was unique as it took a classic story/legend and gave it more of a fantasy/magical twist rather than a romantic theme...which is always the go to them of the King Arthur story. But, I thought that the story left some unanswered questions as everything unraveled.
Over all, I enjoyed this unique and entertaining action/adventure, fantasy-filled movie. It is not perfect as many others have pointed out, but I found it to be a refreshing and different vision of a classic. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a retelling of a classic story with a twist of The Lord of the Rings kind of vibe. I really liked the fantasy/mystical parts of the movie that made it such an enjoyable action-fantasy. But, this is for sure not for everyone.
