JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Constantine Season 1 Episode 2 "The Darkness Beneath"

About the Show
Based on the wildly popular comic book series Hellblazer from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, "Criminal Minds") is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight - or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he's decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray, and he'll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine will use his skills to travel the country, find the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows... maybe there's hope for him and his soul after all.
The cast also includes Harold Perrineau ("Lost") as Manny and Charles Halford ("True Detective") as Chas.
Writer Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist," "Dexter") serves as executive producer with David S. Goyer ("Man of Steel," "The Dark Knight Rises"). "Constantine" is produced from Bonanza Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The show is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment.

*My Thoughts*

This second episode set in a mining town, Constantine investigates mysterious death(s). Interesting detective-procedural in style, Constantine checks out the unusual mystery happening in a small town that was marked by blood on the map that Liv left. With its elements of mystery and suspense...and little horror, this second episode was interesting and in keeping with that "there is a darkness spreading". On this second episode, we are introduced to another character Zed Martin, played by Angélica Celaya, and it is apparent that she has her story to tell...looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Zed in this series.

I'm especially loving Matt Ryan as John Constantine. He's definitely giving life to the character. And now, with the introduction of Angélica's character, Zed, she's apparently gifted...she will definitely be adding to the series. I like the chemistry between the two characters. It seems that they are connected in the supernatural way in battling the "darkness" that is spreading. The first episode introduced viewers to this character and the premise of what Constantine does and endures...the fight between good and evil, and all the supernatural incidences and cases that happen in between.

This episode was fun and had its supernatural elements that made it interesting enough to hold my attention. Not as exciting as the pilot episode, "The Darkness Beneath" spun its own thrilling case for Constantine to solve. Yeah, he definitely goes where evil things happen. With that said, I am definitely going to continue watching this series... I just hope it doesn't get cancelled.

Here's a highlight from this second episode "The Darkness Beneath"

Gotta love that thriller horror element of this series!
