Synopsis:
Calvin Landers is a mess.

He has a great job and a steady string of men and women in his bed, and has been in love with the same couple for so long he can't remember a time when he wasn't. Coming off fresh heartbreak, he's ready to move on, to give up on romance and sex altogether and moves in with his best friend, Davis, while he looks for something more permanent and tries to figure out what the hell he's doing with his life.

Ava Liu isn't looking for anything more than something to distract her from the book she's supposed to be translating. Something to distract her from why the hell she's in River City in the first place. But the boys who share a fence are more than a little distracting and pushy, when they realize just how much Ava needs someone--and how much they all need each other.

Sometimes life happens just when you stop looking.

*Excerpt*
A tiny smile twists up her lips, and she tilts her head. “Why do you think I call you that?”
She doesn’t know. She used to think it’s because Lydia likes her, that there was something growing under the endless meetings about cake and frosting and desert choice.
She thought maybe they were going to finally push past the professional distance.
There is a part of her, a tiny traitorous part, that wanted Lydia to be here for her.
Not for the wedding. Not for her brother.
Everyone in her life was there because she was Meg Jones, the mayor’s little girl, her brother’s sister, Laura’s quiet, combative shadow.
There was no one who came and stayed for her.
And she wanted Lydia to be that person.
“I don’t know,” she says, instead of answering, and Lydia’s expression goes exasperated.
“That,” she says tartly, “is because you are willfully blind.”
Then she gets a handful of Cora’s suit coat, and drags her down into a messy kiss.
~*~
Meg Jones, Lydia decides, is an idiot.
A beautiful, belligerent idiot, and Lydia is absolutely stupid over her.
She reminds Lydia, vaguely, of her first boyfriend, a  gorgeous, wildly insecure boy who watched her like Lydia would leave him.
She never did—he left her, the summer between junior and senior year.
Maybe she has a type, she decides, and then Cora’s pretty mouth opens under hers, a whine in her  throat, and Lydia presses against her, nipping at Cora’s full lower lip, drawing it into her mouth. Cora presses a thigh between hers, and Lydia shivers at the delicious pressure, rubbing just right. It takes someone spilling out of the bar, too loud and impossible to ignore, to jolt her out of the pleasurable haze Cora’s lips have induced. She puts a hand on Cora’s chest, pressing her back just a little.
She smiles and her breath is too breathy, light and airy in a way that is completely ridiculous, “You’re a menace.”
“You---I can’t believe—”
“Cora, sweetheart. I’ve been flirting for weeks. What’s a girl gotta do to get your attention, huh?”
Cora flushes, a pretty pink in the bar lights. “Probably kiss me like that on a city sidewalk.”
“Not so good with subtly, are you?” Lydia purrs and Cora huffs. She’s adorable.
Absolutely adorable.
“Do you have a date for tomorrow?” she asks, voice low and teasing and Cora shakes her head, her eyes wide and bright. Lydia smiles, then, bright and shiny. “Excellent. You can take me.”
“Pretty big first date,” Cora says, her hands finding Lydia’s waist, and she smiles, prettily, a flush in her cheeks.
“Well, you could take me to dinner now,” Lydia says. “And breakfast in the morning. That would make the wedding the third date.”
Cora’s smile is slow and sultry and she wants to see her like this, always, loose and happy and all that sharp angry defensiveness wiped away. “Morning, huh? What are we gonna do tonight?”
Lydia smiles sharklike and drags her close. “Oh, sweetheart, I’m sure we’ll figure something out.”

BLOG TOUR: Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis

Welcome to the Official Blog Tour for Jill Shalvis' Hot Winter Nights, book 6 in the Heartbreaker Bay series!!! A sexy standalone romance in which hero Lucas Knight wakes up with a woman in his bed with no memory of how that happened. What the heck? On our tour stop today, we have an exclusive excerpt to share!!! So... Check it out and grab your copy now!

Genre:
New Adult/Adult
Contemporary Romance
Series:
Heartbreaker Bay, #6
Publish Date:
September 25, 2018
Publisher:
Avon

Synopsis:
Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn't think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn't most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she's been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that — but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once...

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don't mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he's shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly's brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can't believe he's drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who's the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he's ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he's been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

*Excerpt*
“You’re staring at me funny,” he said.
Probably because she was confused over how badly she wanted him. Okay, not so suddenly, but still, denial had been her friend and now that friend had deserted her. “No, I’m not.”
“Yes, you are. You’re staring at me like …”
She turned her back on him and grimaced to herself, knowing exactly how she’d been staring at him. “Like I’m annoyed by your presence?” she asked.
“Like I’m dinner.”
She closed her eyes. “Oh, please,” she said on a low laugh. “I’ve slept with you now. Trust me, I don’t need a repeat.”
“So you keep saying.”
His voice sounded right in her ear now. He’d moved, shifting close enough that his chest nearly brushed the entire length of her spine. She could feel the heat of him and nearly moaned. Nearly. But she caught herself. It was just that his body heat was soaking into her and she found herself wanting to back into him. He smelled amazing and he was still dressed from his job, and that was a shocking turn on too. As was the sexy smirk she heard in his voice.
Which didn’t make any sense. From the time she’d come into her sexuality as a teenager, complete with all the baggage of her kidnapping still hanging over her head, she’d only ever felt comfortable when she was the one doing the charming and chasing. She’d dated guys here and there, all very different from her brother and men like Lucas. They’d been … beta. Not pushovers, but non-threatening. Nice and sweet. Emotionally available.
The exact opposite of Lucas.

But the truth was, no one had ever really invested in her, and she wasn’t sure Lucas was the investing type either. In fact, she was fairly positive he wasn’t, but it still felt a little bit like he was chasing her and she wasn’t at all certain what to do with that.

**About the Author**
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Shalvis writes warm, funny, sexy contemporary romances and women’s fiction. An Amazon, BN & iBooks bestseller, she’s also a two-time RITA winner and has more than 10 million copies of her books sold worldwide.

Jill lives with her family in a small town in the Sierras full of quirky characters (Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is mostly coincidental). She does most of her writing on her deck surrounded by more animals than humans. Which is quite astonishing considering she’s a city girl who was plucked from the wilds of L.A. to the wilds of the Sierra’s. Most of her books come from a combination of hard work, cookies, and hot guy pics, and not necessarily in that order.

Jill often travels to reader weekends & conventions where she LOVES getting to meet and hang-out with readers. The only problem being she tends to get lost in her hotels. So if you ever see Jill Shalvis roaming the halls, someone please return her immediately.
