Born to... Fight?

Ike Rupert Hollingsberry is haunted by the past because complete strangers won’t let him forget that his famous father died on the set of The Fighting Dragons, a cult favorite that still has people talking. But when he’s attacked by a large locust, like the one that killed his dad, Ike is helped by the geekiest nerd of all, Elmira Hand. Killing the giant locust is only the beginning of the surprises in store for Ike as he is whisked away from New York City to an isolated Florida compound to assume his role as the next in line to lead the Royal Order of Fighting Dragons—that are NOT supposed to exist—and learns his dad’s death was a cover-up for a far greater purpose…

"…a fast-paced, entertaining story with appealing characters, a healthy dose of action, and a dash of humor." ―Publishers Weekly

*My Thoughts*

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

๐Ÿค” Hmmm... What can I say?!? I would have to say that this was a fun read. Although this is a Middle Grad book, I think readers of any age would enjoy this imaginative read. Dan Elish has created an exciting and adventurous fantasy that young readers will have fun reading. With its diverse and quirky cast of characters, young readers will be able to relate to them. Now, as for the story.... This was a fun and fast-paced adventure fantasy that kids would love to escape to. ๐Ÿ˜„ Noting that this is a Middle Grade book, violence is very toned down for this particular audience. With that said, this story has a balanced blend of humor, adventure, magic, and mystery that any child will find entertaining. Moreover, this book left me with a feeling that there is more to tell.... Maybe this is a first in a series?!? Hmmm... ๐Ÿค”

All in all, The Royal Order of Fighting Dragons is an imaginative and adventurous fantasy filled with various elements that will keep young readers "glued to their seats."
