Series:
The Vortex Series

Synopsis:
Trent Astor is many things--orphan, runaway, musician. But what's most extraordinary about Trent is that he's a time traveler. His supernatural gift sends him on missions to the past to save unsuspecting victims from harm. However, when he fails to save the life of a young girl, his life changes in ways he could never dreamed.

At eleven-years-old, Cassie Moore suffered through a horrific shooting. Tragically scarred from the ordeal, the once promising tennis prodigy was forced to throw away all hope of a future in tennis. Now, as she begins her senior year of high school, the past continues to haunt her. She struggles to find herself, her self-esteem at an all time low. If only she could resolve the past, she might be able to move on with her life. She never imagined that could be possible until she meets the gorgeous new student in her PE class.

***My Thoughts***
Wow! I was totally gripped with Trent's struggles and frustrations of the burden that comes along with his supernatural ability. To make matters even more intense he falls for the girl from the one mission he can't seem to let go of. Talk about complicated!!! I was absolutely drawn towards Trent and Cassie's situation. With the title, Rematch, was definitely fitting for the story. Like Trent's sister, Lorelai, said..."True love doesn't come around that often, you know?" Now, that has a lot of truth to it...haha!

Janine Caldwell amazingly navigates through the time travelling, taking me back with Trent to whatever time he gets sent back to. I loved the idea that time travel isn't random...there's purpose for the "jumps" through time. Filled with secrets and a danger that follows the Astor siblings, the suspense added to the already action-filled story. With Janine's well-developed characters, it definitely felt like a typical high school again...with all the jocks, the popular kids, the nerds...and everyone else. Doesn't matter how much time has passed, high school will always be high school with all the teenage drama and angst. And, I definitely enjoyed Janine Calwell's telling of it with a little teen romance and a supernatural/sci-fi twist.

With danger following them, the Astor siblings are in a constant state of caution to keep from being found. With the one "mission" Trent can't let go of, their lives get even more complicated with Cassie involved. Definitely, an exciting, action-filled story of teen romance, mystery and danger that I couldn't put down until the gut-wrenching last page.

Now onto the next book in the trilogy, Double Fault!
