Over a hundred years after the death of Magnus Blackwell, Altmover Manor sits abandoned. Determined to rescue the neglected Mount Desert Island landmark, a well-known architect purchases the once grand home.

Will Bennet and his fiancĂ©e—the quirky and stubborn Lexie Arden—want to make Altmover Manor their showplace. But Magnus has other plans.

A spirit bound to his former residence, Magnus finds himself inexplicably drawn to the young woman. She has a supernatural gift; a gift Magnus wants to exploit to end his purgatory.

As Lexie and Will settle in, secrets from Magnus’s past begin to surface. Compelled to learn all she can about the former owner, Lexie finds herself drawn into a world of voodoo, curses, and the whereabouts of a mysterious dragon cane.

It soon becomes clear Magnus’s sins won’t be so easily forgotten. What Lexie unearths about his road to redemption is going to change the future … for both of them.

Interview with Alexandrea Weis
1. Of course, I must start off with the most basic of questions. When and/or How did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I knew I loved writing by the age of eight when I discovered the emotion words could convey, but as far as being a writer, it was the dream job in the back of my head in high school.

2. When your first book got published, where were you and what were you doing and/or what was your reaction?
My first book had a profound impact on me. I remember being home and doing the last proof and hitting send to the publisher. Then when the final paperback arrived, it was quite a thrill. To see all your hard work in print and your name on the cover never gets old.

3. What writing process works best for you, especially when you co-write with another author?
The best process for me it to just write. I outline very little and never stick to it. The story and characters evolve as I write. When I co-write, it is a similar process. We divide up chapter and got from there. I like the spontaneity of writing and seeing where the story takes me.

4. What was the inspiration behind this book/book series?
I was given a synopsis of the idea from Lucas and we developed it from there. The story has grown and now working on the second book in the series- Bound, it will get darker and edgier as Lexie’s journey continues.

5. What research did you have to do for the book, if any?
Mostly on the voodoo myth and culture as well as research on Mount Desert Island, Maine where part of the book takes place.

6. Are any characters from the book inspired any real people in your life?
All characters are based in part on people you know. Certain mannerisms, idiosyncrasies, inflections of the voice stay with you as a writer. You could say characters for me are a virtual gumbo of the people I have known.

7. How did this collaboration and/or partnership to write this book/book series come about?
We were introduced by our agent, Italia Gandolfo. She believes in putting like minds together and in our case, it’s been a wonderful experience.

8. If you weren't a writer, what would you be doing, career-wise?
I was an RN before becoming a full-time writer and also a permitted Wildlife Rehabber. I still rehab orphaned and injured animals but not as much as I used to due to the demands of writing. If I didn’t; write, I’d be up to my elbows in animals needing a helping hand.
