JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Lucifer Season 2, Part 2

*About the Show*
L.A. is hotter than ever...

Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment, Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) to take down criminals.

Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer has a way of manipulating people into confessing their deepest, darkest secrets, which helps Chloe deliver justice. But Lucifer quickly discovered that Chloe makes him vulnerable. When he's around her, the devil can bleed like anyone else. It's a truly scary realization that doesn't sit well with his best friend, Mazikeen aka Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. Maze wants nothing more than to leave Los Angeles and get back to her life in Hell, but Lucifer is having one helluva good time with the mortals, and she is not about to leave him behind.

At the end of Season One, Chloe watched Lucifer die, only to come back to life, causing more confusion over who he really is. Meanwhile, her estranged husband, Dan (Kevin Alejandro), who is also an LAPD detective, came clean about his involvement in a corrupt case - jeopardizing not only his job, but also their relationship.

In Season Two, Lucifer and his brother, Amenadiel (DB Woodside), who have been sparring over Lucifer's resistance to returning to the underworld, will now be brought back together for one common goal - to find their mother, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer, Battlestar Galactica), who escaped Hell. After all, Lucifer doesn't take after his dad, so the parent he does resemble is sure to be quite terrifying. Lucifer's work with the LAPD also is upended when the police force hires Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia, The George Lopez Show), a smart, tough forensic scientist whose mutual belief in both faith and science proves a point of interest to Lucifer.

With mom on the loose, Dr. Linda Martin (Rachael Harris), who has become not only a therapist, but also a confidante to Lucifer, will surely have a lot of advice to dole out. And, by the time she's done with them, she may need a therapist of her own.

*My Thoughts*

OMG!! These characters definitely does not run out of their dysfunctional family antics to say the least. This second half of Season Two dives heavily into the "goddess'" adjustment into human life and her dire need to return to heaven. Of course, two of her children, namely Lucifer and Amenadiel, are charged in watching over her...and, to keep her out of trouble. However, trouble seems to just find them...all...haha!!!

The cast is hilarious! Their chemistry works! They each deal with their individual conflicts. Lucifer has come a long way since Season One. He's becoming more human every "day" he is on Earth. Everyone around him has a lot to do with that, too. Love it! Yup! Even Maze has gotten attached to these humans...lol! Oh my! How humanity affects these supernatural beings!!! One has got to keep watching to see how much these characters have evolved/grown since the start!

Whoa! Didn't see that coming....the Season finale, that is!!! LOL! Wow! Great!! Now, we have to wait til next Fall to find out what that finale means...especially for Lucifer.  Say what...!?!

*My Thoughts*

What a second season! Oh, the fun and adventure continues for Lucifer and Chloe! Now, their adventures include mother dearest...the goddess of creation! Lucifer definitely has a lot on his plate...haha! Doc Martin knows the truth...and she has a lot to "wrap" her head around everything that has been revealed to her. Character development continues...and it keeps getting interesting. The humor continues to balance out the drama. Tricia Helfer is a great addition to the cast. Love her character! Stuck in Los Angeles with humans, Mother God has to adjust to living life on Earth. All the while, we can see where Lucifer gets his funny wit and personality traits from. Amenadiel, on the other hand, is feeling the crushing truth of the consequences of his actions. He, too, must adjust to becoming mortal. Maze is struggling to figure out who and what she is in this life on Earth.

Lots of character development for all of these characters. Truths are revealed...and Lucifer and Chloe's relationship is moving along. However, there are a few obstacles that they have to overcome in order to figure out what this relationship is between the two. Completely how they interact with each other and how the cast fit their characters. Funny how Dan and Lucifer have to work together, despite how they feel about each other...haha! But, both their "love" for Chloe is what keeps them at a compromise.

All in all, this season was filled with Lucifer's humor and antics, as well as solving crime.  Every character has established their own identities as to who they are and what they want. We even got introduced to another angel! Yup! We definitely got a taste of some "divine intervention;" however, it doesn't mean it was all good. Anyways, a little bit of Heaven and Hell definitely adds to the whole theme of Lucifer being the first fallen angel and the Lord of Hell. Well, next season will be very interesting as we learn more about the "miracle" that Chloe was revealed to be. What is her "part" in God's plan. Will we meet Him in this coming next season!

Yup! That's right! Lucifer has been renewed for a third season! Yes!

Episode Synopsis:
When Lucifer is framed for murder, he and Chloe must work together to clear his name and prove the identity of the true killer.

~~~~~
*My Thoughts*
Not that Lucifer has been framed for murder, he doesn't think life on Earth, especially in Los Angeles, is fun anymore. It's not all fun and games anymore...is it!?! Lucifer is feeling the reality of it now. The look of disappointment and disbelief on Chloe's face just rubbed it in too much for Lucifer. We already know that Lucifer is all too human when Chloe is around. When Lucifer has a gun pointed to his head, he only does what the Devil does...and provokes the police officer to pull the trigger. Aye!
Despite Amenadiel and Lucifer being at odds with each other, they are still family...and Amenadiel gets Lucifer out of that mess for now. They both come to a realization about themselves and about the whole situation... And comes to the conclusion that they need to help each other on this.
Dan finally tells Chloe that truth about everything. He really does want to make it work...he does, after all, still love Chloe. Even with all the mistakes that were made; he did do it with good intentions in mind. He just went about it the wrong way. Of course, Chloe is angry with him, she seems to understand his motives...sort of. She'll probably forgive him...eventually. Although she doesn't it show it much, Chloe still loves Dan... She still want to make it work, especially for Trixie's sake. Dan helps Chloe by turning himself in, so that they can track down Malcolm and clear Lucifer's name.
I thought it was hilarious when Dr. Martin finally finds out the truth about Amenadiel and Lucifer. That was funny. Then, to turn it around and make it into sibling counseling. Dr. Martin is still dumbfounded with this revelation; plus, she's angry that she was apparently a pawn in Amenadiel's plan to get Lucifer back to Hell. The back and forth banter and antics is too funny...totally enjoyable to watch. Then, just like all of Lucifer's "therapy" sessions, Amenadiel and Lucifer figures out what to do in order to find Malcolm.
Well, Malcolm has definitely gone off the deep end into insanity, especially since he thinks he's "invincible" when Amenadiel "saved" him from Hell. But what does he do...go crazy, then kidnap Trixie. Malcolm want to run, but that's not going to happen without money since he was confronted by Amenadiel and Lucifer. Too funny how these brother angels work so well together, but always disagree on many things. But, that didn't go well either since Amenadiel gets injured by Maze's blade.
Hmmm...Lucifer and Amendiel isn't the only one who is all too new these human emotions. Maze is also susceptible to this too human thing called...feelings. For a demon, she did show a lot of concern for Amenadiel's well-being.
It comes down to saving Trixie and Chloe now. Knowing that he can die with Chloe around, he know what he needs to do...the only way he know how. Facing Malcolm, Lucifer finds out, the deadly way, what Malcolm truly desires.
Hmmm...I wonder if making Lucifer too human was his Father's plan all this time. While Lucifer bleeds out dying on the floor, he pleads with his Father. Being Lucifer, the surprising thing is that he doesn't request what would be assumed for the Devil. Lucifer was concerned for Chloe's safety... He made a sacrifice to help someone else!
Wow! Finally!!! We got a glimpse of what Hell looks like when Lucifer died and returned home. However, his sweet homecoming was not as sweet as he thought when he finds that something...someone...has escaped out of its confines. Then, he returns to Earth...well, he did offer his Father his services; and now, we know why.
Who escaped Hell!?! Lucifer and Amenadiel has another brother bonding moment, but Lucifer finds himself telling Amenadiel some ominous news. Lucifer tells him who escaped Hell. Seriously!!! Oh what a cliffhanger!!! Well, I think the brothers will have their hands full searching for this escapee.
We already know that there will be a lot that Dan and Chloe have to work out. Lucifer has to search for this escapee. Amenadiel and Maze are the only ones who can help him. What and how much chaos will this Hell escapee cause!?! Guess we will have to wait for the next season to find out what is in store for all them.
This was an incredibly fun and action-filled start of a series. Tom Ellis and the entire cast are amazing! They totally made the start of this show exciting. I would like to see more of the supernatural side of it. This first season gave viewers a great introduction to all the characters and developed a world with Lucifer living among people in Los Angeles. However, he is still the Devil, Amenadiel is still an Angel, and Maze is still a Demon... I guess I wanted to see more of the other side of them, not just there "human" side of them. But, with this season finale, we may be seeing some of that in the second season...hopefully.
Episode Synopsis:
When a woman is found dead on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the investigation leads Lucifer and team into the world of Satanists.
~~~~~

*My Thoughts*
Lucifer is on another case with Chloe, but he actively tries to avoid her due to that vulnerability issue. Since he tested his theory about Chloe, he's been avoiding her for about 3 weeks...haha! Chloe believes that the murder is connected to Lucifer in one way or another, especially when they discover the woman's death is connected to a Satanic cult. Of course, Lucifer is infuriated with how these Satanists portray and worship him. Funny how Lucifer seems to relate with each of their cases. This time, he relates by way of "absentee father." How ironic...lol! Funny how the joke about Lucifer and the goat was mentioned in the previous episode, then mentioned and connected into this episode. It further creates that cohesive storyline. Hilarious and well done! Definitely got some laughs on that!

Lucifer is, of course, being childish about this vulnerability issue. What's even more crazy is how Malcolm has become an obsessive fan of Lucifer...to the point that he's creating these crime scenes. Yup, it is to the edge insanity. Lucifer is dumbfounded with this intense attention by Malcolm, but he then realizes how insanely devoted Malcolm is to him...in a weird way, that is. Yeah, there is no doubt about Malcolm's obsession with Lucifer, especially when Lucifer shuns him...haha! Well, after Lucifer turns him away, Malcolm took it hard by framing him for murder!!! Wow!

Hmmm...Amenadiel and Maze seems to be developing some kind of feelings for each other. I guess Lucifer is not the only one vulnerable to life on Earth, especially in Los Angeles. Interesting enough. But, Maze can't seem to follow through with Lucifer's request to send Amenadiel back to heaven. Hmmm...

Lucifer and Amenadiel get into a fight! Whoa! Talk about sibling rivalry, but now, Maze is one of the reason why they are fighting...lol! Definitely, ironic!

Moreover, each case and every event seems be leading to something bigger. Is Malcolm fanboying over Lucifer leading to something else?!? Lucifer is definitely in deep with this case...and not in a good way. Frustrating as it is, Lucifer is not getting out of this one, especially since Chloe finds a dead boy in his club.

With everything that has happened, it has now come this! We'll find out in the next episode as we come to the end of Season One.

Can't wait til the season finale!

Episode Synopsis:
When philanthropist Tim Dunlear is found dead, Lucifer explores his good side by becoming a benefactor for Tim's glitzy Los Angeles charity.

~~~~~
*My Thoughts*
Well, this episode opens with Chloe in Lucifer's bed...ahahaha! Yup! After showing up at his place drunk and passing out in the previous episode, the assumption would be that they did the "nasty." Right!?! Well, hate to disappoint, they didn't...that's hilarious! Just love Lucifer and Chloe's banter. Those two has great chemistry! Lucifer said "no" to Chloe!?! Wow!
In this episode, he's trying on that "good guy" suit by being good and charitable!?! Hmmm... Let's see how that goes....haha! As Lucifer explores that possibility, a murder of a philanthropist gets Lucifer on a roll on being "St. Lucifer." As in all the previous episodes, Lucifer explores another aspect of himself...this time he's exploring doing good and how it feels.
On the other side of things, Amenadiel is waiting on Malcolm to do his "job." He will pretty much do what needs to be done to get Lucifer back to Hell...which includes working with a beautiful demon. However, it seems that Amenadiel is getting bored waiting. Looks like Maze is feeling lonely since Lucifer remains angry with her. Where does she go for company!?! She goes to Lucifer's brother...Amenadiel. Huh! And boy, they definitely kept each other company. Even angels are vulnerable to temptation...haha! And...Oh my! Amendiel and Maze!?!
Not only that, Dan figures out what Malcolm is up to. All tied up, Dan has to figure out how to stop him from killing Lucifer. Very clever Dan...kicking Malcolm's food out of his hands. Looks like Dan is putting things together while Malcolm talks. Yeah, Malcolm talks too much, especially telling Dan about what happened to him. However, Malcolm does not complete his task, especially when Lucifer bribes him out of it.
Interesting to find a twist regarding Lucifer's immortality. We have already seen how he has become vulnerable in connection with his curiosity with human behavior and life in Los Angeles. Of course, the issue comes up again after he gets shot by their murder suspect. In the end, the murder of Tim Dunlear gets solved!
Moreover, Lucifer tests a theory regarding his immortality. It seems that he is vulnerable when it comes to Chloe. Lucifer is realizing many things in this episode... one, he's giving Maze another chance and, two, he's vulnerable when Chloe is around. Huh...she makes him "all too human." She makes him vulnerable.
Until the next episode!
Episode Synopsis:
Lucifer and Chloe are tasked with solving the murder of a prominent restauranteur. When they meet his son, they suspect he played a part in the death.
~~~~~

*My Thoughts*
Lucifer continues to aid Chloe on cases, this time, this murder case seems to hit close to home. The murder of a prominent restauranteur has gotten Lucifer worked up, especially when the son is considered a suspect. As the investigation begins, Chloe's mother is in town. Well, it looks like parent and child relations...and all the issues that come with it...are the common theme in this episode.

These strained relationships with the parentals also affects the people around them, especially Trixie. However, she takes it in stride for a child. Funny how Trixie seeks out Lucifer when situations get tense between her mother and grandmother. Trixie is very preceptive! Even the relationship between Chloe and Dan is already strained...and Lucifer's meddling isn't helping. And...I was hoping Dan and Chloe would reconcile. Maybe it may happen, but it looks like there will be a lot of obstacles in their way.

On the other side, Maze is seeking help from Dr. Martin!?! Interesting... Looks like this demon is also vulnerable to human emotions and vulnerabilities. Wow...the longer these supernatural beings stay on Earth, the more they become susceptible to human feelings!

Will Amenadiel's plan to murder Lucifer go off as planned!?! Hmmm...looks like Dan wants to kill Lucifer himself...haha! Amenadiel seems to be desperate in sending Lucifer back to Hell since he has recruited Malcolm.

In the end, the case is solved and they come to some realizations in regards to their relationships with their parents. Despite Lucifer and Chloe's resentments towards their parents, they are more like them whether like it or not...haha!

What!!! Chloe is drunk! She went to Lucifer's place! This is not good...haha! Or is it!?! LOL!

Until the next episode!
