Episode 11: "Tape 6, Side A"

Clay and Hannah grow closer. While Clay spends a heartbreaking night listening to his tape with Tony, tensions boil over at Bryce's house.

My Thoughts

“She’s telling her truth.”

Well said Tony. Clay finally listens to his tape and strangely it’s more than he can handle. Hannah considered him good, kind, and sweet, but Clay doesn’t see it that way. He was too scared to say, “I love you” or stay with her when she needed him most. Clay feels guilty because he feels like he could have been a stronger person and be there for her. I think that strongly touches upon what most people feel when they are grieving for loved one, especially when they were killed prematurely. 13 Reasons Why, although a Netflix drama, like other good stories should make the viewer think. What can a person do between now and death to live life to the fullest yet spread joy to others in need of it?

Clay’s tape made it seem like she had a ray of hope. Since we’ve finally listens to Clay’s tape, why should we keep listening? Because we want to know what it took for Hannah to resolutely kill herself.

And as a part of 13 Reasons Why, we can’t forget Jessica, Bryce, Justin, and that possible law suit that could ensue with them. Hannah and Justin’s truth about the night of Jessica’s party comes out and Jessica is emotionally torn to shreds. She didn’t want to hear it, but Justin needed to say it. Why keep it covered up? Why let Bryce roam freely and act like the dick he is portrayed as? I’m starting to feel sorry for Justin. He only wants to do what’s right for someone he cares about, but no one seems to care about him in return.

If it wasn’t already obvious, this show deserves several viewer discretion warnings. Until the next tape.

Episode Synopsis:

When philanthropist Tim Dunlear is found dead, Lucifer explores his good side by becoming a benefactor for Tim's glitzy Los Angeles charity.

*My Thoughts*

Well, this episode opens with Chloe in Lucifer's bed...ahahaha! Yup! After showing up at his place drunk and passing out in the previous episode, the assumption would be that they did the "nasty." Right!?! Well, hate to disappoint, they didn't...that's hilarious! Just love Lucifer and Chloe's banter. Those two has great chemistry! Lucifer said "no" to Chloe!?! Wow!

In this episode, he's trying on that "good guy" suit by being good and charitable!?! Hmmm... Let's see how that goes....haha! As Lucifer explores that possibility, a murder of a philanthropist gets Lucifer on a roll on being "St. Lucifer." As in all the previous episodes, Lucifer explores another aspect of himself...this time he's exploring doing good and how it feels.

On the other side of things, Amenadiel is waiting on Malcolm to do his "job." He will pretty much do what needs to be done to get Lucifer back to Hell...which includes working with a beautiful demon. However, it seems that Amenadiel is getting bored waiting. Looks like Maze is feeling lonely since Lucifer remains angry with her. Where does she go for company!?! She goes to Lucifer's brother...Amenadiel. Huh! And boy, they definitely kept each other company. Even angels are vulnerable to temptation...haha! And...Oh my! Amendiel and Maze!?!

Not only that, Dan figures out what Malcolm is up to. All tied up, Dan has to figure out how to stop him from killing Lucifer. Very clever Dan...kicking Malcolm's food out of his hands. Looks like Dan is putting things together while Malcolm talks. Yeah, Malcolm talks too much, especially telling Dan about what happened to him. However, Malcolm does not complete his task, especially when Lucifer bribes him out of it.

Interesting to find a twist regarding Lucifer's immortality. We have already seen how he has become vulnerable in connection with his curiosity with human behavior and life in Los Angeles. Of course, the issue comes up again after he gets shot by their murder suspect. In the end, the murder of Tim Dunlear gets solved!

Moreover, Lucifer tests a theory regarding his immortality. It seems that he is vulnerable when it comes to Chloe. Lucifer is realizing many things in this episode... one, he's giving Maze another chance and, two, he's vulnerable when Chloe is around. Huh...she makes him "all too human." She makes him vulnerable.

About the Show

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman's (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities, and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photgrapher James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret ageny where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Episode 11 - "Strange Visitor From Another Planet"

 Synopsis:

Kara must help Hank face his painful past when a White Martian, a member of the alien race that wiped out his people, kidnaps Senator Miranda Crane (Tawny Cypress), an anti-alien politician. Also, Cat's estranged son, Adam (Blake Jenner), arrives in National City.

*My Thoughts*

Well, talk about integrating current events/real issues in today's society into the show. This was definitely an emotional episode for our characters. The crisis at hand had a personal, close-to-the-heart, effect on DEO leader,Hank Henshaw (Green Martion, J'onn J'onzz) with the appearance of a White Martian. Moreover, Cat gets a surprise visit from her estranged son, Adam. Now, that was surprise that left Cat somewhat speechless...she was definitely at a loss of words and actions. But, it was apparent on her facial expression(s) that she was happy to see him, at the same time, afraid.

This episode tackled issues such as bigotry, hate, and strained relationships. Yes, strain relationships especially with family is an issue that many people face everyday. Although it has been an underlying storyline since the start of the series, this episode tackles it upfront with Cat's son showing up after so many years. It brought me to tears! It was that emotional...haha! Their first meeting was awkward, but the second (with Kara's help) helped break down their "walls" and get over their fears. Sometimes, it takes a "bridge" to be able to come together.

Not only was Kara/Supergirl the "bridge" for Cat and Adam, she was also that "bridge" for J'onn J'onzz to maintain his honor, and not throwing it away with revenge.

Well, I miss Winn and Kara's friendship. After that "kiss," things sort of got awkward. Well, it looks like their friendship will survive. Yay! We already know Kara misses Winn. In the end, Winn comes around...we know he misses Kara, too.

Yeah, this was a tear-jerker kind of episode. <sigh> Melissa Benoist has definitely embraced the character so well....she is Supergirl...haha!

JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Constantine Season 1 Episode 11 "A Whole World Out There"

*My Thoughts*

Whoa!! Constantine is definitely not lacking with the horror and suspense elements. These episodes has not disappointed. Yet again, another episode revealing more about Constantine's "friends." John Constantine may come off as aloof,  but he seriously does care about his friends...he just has an odd way of showing it. This time, John comes out to help Ritchie's students. I'm also loving the fact that Manny is making more of an appearance now. This time, this episode explores the out-of-body travel into other dimension! Very interesting....

Forgot to mention that the time slot was switched with Grimm which was a good move...in my opinion...since Grimm already has an established fanbase.... Grimmsters would definitely not want to miss an episode. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Oh...and yah, this is also a favorite show of mine. 

Back to the show... We are already into the eleventh episode, and I am enjoying the development of characters and story. There is so many directions this show can go...story-wise, now that the rising darkness was identified. John and friends have a lot ahead of them... there are, after all, all those marks on the scry map. I seriously love how Matt Ryan brings the Constantine character to life.
