Synopsis:
After rejecting the cult-like influence of her father's family, Julia moves into a fancy hotel in downtown Austin. But she finds herself alone except for her boyfriend, John--and her fears. Once again she's suppressing her abilities, afraid her family will come for John when they find out he's been developing abilities of his own in her presence. The FBI is also keeping a close eye on Julia hoping she can lead them to her father, Novak, as he's wanted for questioning in his former assistant's death.
With tensions high, Julia and John agree to go separate ways for the summer, paving the way for Julia to reunite with Angus, fellow outcast. Together they set out on a road trip to California to find Julia's mom and a way into Novak's secret underground world. Along the way Julia will learn the Puri perhaps aren't the only humans evolving into something different. . . and that maybe she's the leader her people have needed all along.
*Excerpt*
Still, slowly, as if I were on stage and they were my audience, all eyes began to find me. No matter how I dressed, no matter how I tried to avoid eye contact, I’d learned over time that there was something about me and my family that always attracted people’s attention.
It was time to move on.

*Meet the Characters*
Julia Jaynes: Eighteen, born with extra-sensory gifts and talented at everything she touches. Julia is petite, pale with black hair and piercing blue eyes inherited from her father. She is tough on the outside but cares very deeply about the people she loves. Julia has trouble opening up, being vulnerable and depending on anyone. She’s the black sheep of her seemingly perfect family. At the beginning of the series, all she wants is to fit in until she’s introduced to the world outside of her protective bubble and she begins to see herself in a new light.
John Ford: 6’ 2”, eighteen, dark hair and dark eyes. John is a disillusioned tennis prodigy under an immense amount of pressure. At the beginning of the series, he is the king of his high school but feels he’s missing something. Until he meets Julia. John is polite and concerned about others’ feelings, a protective older brother, sexy and drawn to girls who are a bit dangerous which makes his parents very nervous. John is good at hiding his feelings and he hates that Julia can invade his privacy by reading his mind.
Angus: Eighteen, skinny, all defined muscle. Angus is Julia’s former crush and a member of the same exclusive society with abilities that almost match hers. Angus has light brown hair and golden skin, and is covered in tattoos. He’s a rule breaker, a smart ass, caustic and can turn on you on a dime. He has a soft side though. Over the course of the series, Angus begins to show Julia his vulnerabilities and kicks himself that he was too late in realizing she was more than his best friend.
