Synopsis:
Secrets.
Deceptions.
Tragedies.
Those were the root of all evil. One of those became the root of mine the day I lost the love of my life. My best friend. My lover.
Everyone disregarded it, saying, “Let’s face it, Averie, you have the rest of your life ahead of you.” They were wrong. James Lawrence was my ever after . . . until Ashton.
If only he didn’t come bearing his own brand of evil.
A secret.
The reason he wanted me to stay away.
I should have listened, and he should have tried harder, but both of us failed. And if we hadn’t, if he had told me when we first met, would it have altered the moment I realized that I was falling for him?
The slight variation in the air. The hitch in my breath. The lightness in my chest.
Impossible to know; I’d already fallen.
I was already ruined.
***A standalone sports romance that takes place in senior year high school.***
Due to explicit content, this book is suitable for 17+

*Excerpt*
Everything was back to normal. At least, that was what I thought until my gaze landed on Averie in the middle of the dance floor at Glores Nightclub, the basement inside of Glores Tavern. Her eyes were closed and a black dress clung to her curves. I guessed she hadn’t lost as much weight as I’d thought. She looked really fucking good, her hips swaying to the music and her hands moving seductively over her body.
“Damn,” Shane, one of the guys on our football team, said.
My lips pressed together as I watched her, aware that other men were noticing her. She might not stand out inside this low-lit club to the ones who were also dancing and grinding around her, but from where I was standing, it was as if the stage lights were on her.
“Shit, sorry,” Ryker said, sipping on his drink.
We were sitting a few feet above the ground level on leather seats in the VIP area that ran along a section of the walls, our main corner when we were down here.
“You let her in?” I asked.
“Yeah, but she didn’t want to hang out with us, so it’s cool,” he replied.
I swallowed, my gaze narrowing as a guy moved in front of her, rocking to the music and blocking my view. After a second, he walked away from that area like she’d turned him down. The same scene played out a second and a third time with different guys. So, she just wanted to dance by herself. Maybe she wouldn’t be a problem.
For the next few songs, Ryker disappeared with a girl in the back while Brody danced with one in a dark corner of the club. Averie turned down yet another guy. Yes, I was watching her. I doubted she even knew I was here.
A sexy, seductive song came on, tempting me to break my own rule about staying away from her. And against my better judgment, I got up and started for her like the song and my needs were urging me to.
