JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Supergirl Season 1 Episode 19 - "Myriad"

About the Show
Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman's (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities, and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents' help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photgrapher James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret ageny where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Episode 19 - "Myriad"
 Synopsis:
Kara must find a way to free her friends when Non (Chris Vance) and Indigo (Laura Vandervoort) use mind control to turn National City's citizens into their own army.

~~~
*My Thoughts*
Looks like Astra's plan is in effect with Non and Indigo's help...since we left off in the last episode. All of National City's  citizens fall into its influence, including Superman. However, two others seem to be immune to Myriad's effects. Hence, a quarantine is placed on the entire city. Hank and Alex are on the run, but makes a stop at her mother's home. Indigo continues to push Non in dominating Earth...and to kill Supergirl. This is Astra's plan to save Earth!?! Whoa! That is just twisted. Free will is literally erased from the minds from all the citizens in National City.
Supergirl visits the Superman's Fortress of Solitude to search for answers on Myriad. However, she only learns of its inception, but no answers of how to stop it. Supergirl, then, finds everyone, including her friends, under the influence of Myriad...in Non's control. But, it seems that Cat Grant and Maxwell Lord are immune to its effects. Hmmm... Of course, Max figures out how to avoid the effects. Plus, he also keeps Cat from also falling under the influence...haha! Go figure...he has a thing for Cat. Supergirl also reaches out to her cousin for help, but he also falls under the influence. Hmmm....thought Kryptonians are supposed to be immune to Myriad's effects. Well, Max has his conclusion on that...Hmmm funny, I was thinking the same thing...hahaha!!
Anyways, it almost seems hopeless, but the whole theme of it all is hope...isn't it!?! Supergirl is all about resolving these situations without violence and loss of life...as much as possible. Max has a plan, but it's one that has a good amount of collateral damage. Max's fear comes to surface...and he builds a bomb!?! Ummm...I don't think that will fly (pun intended) with Supergirl. In a way, Non's opinion about humans has some truth to it. In order to save the people, humans tend to use more violence and chaos to save the great good, but sacrifice the few. But, Supergirl figures out another way to save everyone...with Cat's help, or more inspiration. Cat has change a lot since episode one, but she is still that sassy and sarcastic character that has made her stand out in the series. She has become an important "advisor" or "mother-figure" for Supergirl...I think.
Alex and Hank finds out what's going on in National City, and goes back to help...against Supergirl's request. Indigo injures J'onn J'onzz and takes Alex...Non and Indigo has a plan on how to deal with Supergirl. Now that our favorite Martian is injured, he can no longer protect Alex's mind telepathically; hence, Alex falls under Myriad's influence. Non and Indigo's plan to use Alex against Supergirl has come to be.... What will Supergirl do now!
But, of course, that is where the episode end. Guess we will have to wait for the season finale to find out if Supergirl succeeds in saving everyone in National City...and the world
Until the next exciting episode!
For now, here's a preview of the Season 1 finale of Supergirl!
