*Excerpt*
I pulled away so I could look in his eyes. “I
know I’ve asked this before, but what are you really looking for from me, what
are your expectations?”
For the first time, I saw genuine uncertainty
in his eyes. “Jenna, I’m married to my work. It doesn’t leave a lot of time for
relationships. Romance isn’t in my nature. The kind of interactions I’ve had
with women the last few years were purely for sex.”
As I heard the words fall from his lips, I saw
his eyes shift to a place of displeasure in admitting his past behavior.
“So, you aren’t able to be monogamous?”
His body tensed up as if he was now irritated
with me? “I didn’t say that. When I’m in a sexual relationship with a woman,
she is the only one I’m with, and I expect the same in return.”
“And I’m your lucky choice right now?” I
scoffed, well aware of how bitchy my tone was coming across.
I wasn’t sure why I was so annoyed by his
revelation; this could be my perfect situation if I’d only accept it. A man
that worked as hard as I did but craved playtime on the side. Playtime with no
strings attached, no promise for a future.
“I know you were freaked out by my mention of
submission. I’m not a dominant.” He reached for my hand and curled his fingers
in-between mine. “My idea of submission is having you trust me implicitly with
your body’s pleasure. I want to be the only one that brings you that kind of
mind-blowing gratification. Not your hand or a toy when you are not with me. I
don’t expect you to be waiting on your knees when I get home after a long day
at the office. I won’t lie, it would be a welcome surprise, a fantasy of mine,
but that’s not the kind of dominance I subscribe to.” He then lifted my hand
and placed a tender kiss against my skin. “Say yes to giving us a try. To
merging our playtimes.”
I was speechless.
His explanation helped to relax my fears and
calm my initial concerns, thus allowing a small smile to warm up my expression.
A smile that didn’t go unnoticed by Cameron, who took it as a cue and pulled me
closer into him, pressing his forehead down to mine.
“Jenna, I’m drawn to you in a way I can’t
explain. While I can’t speak for the future, please know I need you in my life,
in a way I haven’t wanted anyone or desired anyone else before. Try and trust
me when I say this because I don’t say those words lightly.”
His last statement almost sounded like a
confession from his soul, and I understood where he was coming from since I
felt the same way.
