Synopsis:
Danielle effed up. Big time.

Danielle's plans for the future were pretty easy to figure out... until she failed senior English and her single college application was denied. Suddenly she's in hot water with very few options, because honestly who applies to a safety school when their mom is a semi-famous "college psychic"?!

Determined to get her life back on track, Danielle enrolls in her hometown community college with a plan: pass her English class and get back into Ohio State and her mother's good graces. Romance isn't on her radar... until she reconnects with her childhood crush and golden-boy-next-door, Luke.

Between family drama, first love and finding her own way, Danielle can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. Thankfully she has her friendship with the snarky and frustratingly attractive Porter, her coworker at the campus bookstore, to push her to experience new things and help keep her afloat.

One thing's for sure: This time, failure's not an option.

Maggie Ann Martin's Top 10 Favorite TV series and Characters. Why?

Let me preface this by saying that my struggle to narrow down my favorite shows into a top 10 list proves that Netflix is slowly controlling my life. Anywho... here are my top 10 favorite tv shows and the characters who make me love them.

1. Gilmore Girls
This is the show that I would come back home from school and watch on TV every day. I grew up on this humor, and it influences a lot of my voice as a writer. Plus, I’ve heard from a few readers that my character, Porter, from The Big F reminds them of Jess Mariano.

I wanted to be Rory Gilmore when I grew up. She was whip-smart, hilarious, and had her own stumbles along the way that made her relatable.

2. Gossip Girl
I feel like this show doesn’t get the credit it deserves. The writers are sharp and smart in their references and humor, especially in the early seasons. If I could live my life in Gossip Girl Season 1 Land, I totally would.

Blair Waldorf made this show for me, along with her counterpart, Chuck Bass. They always had the best banter (and drama) to keep me coming back for more episodes.

3. Game of Thrones
Need I say much else about the greatest show on television? The characters are phenomenal, the plotlines are unimaginably intricate, and the scenery is always jaw-dropping.

And I can’t pick a favorite character. It hurts too much to try and pick just one.

4. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
This is another show that I feel is underrated. I adore everything Rachel Bloom does ever (including her stint on Bill Nye Saves the World that the rest of the Internet seemed to hate).

Rebecca is a beautifully flawed, absolutely relatable, and entirely funny character that bursts into song at the drop of the hat. What’s not to love?

5. Jane the Virgin
What I love most about this show is our cast of characters. They all are uniquely funny, considerate, sometimes over the top, but always coming from a place of love.

Jane is a writer trying to make her way in the world. She and I = soul sisters.

6. The Office
My current mood is Michael Scott burning his foot on a George Forman grill. Again, we get a hilarious, diverse cast of characters who make for an amusing show.

7. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This show doesn’t remind me of anything else that’s currently on TV—in the best way possible. It sticks to its guns humor-wise and has an extremely distinct voice.

Kimmy is brave and strong (as hell) despite all of the trauma she’s been put through. Kimmy Schmidt for president.

8. The 100
Clark and the gang work together to create an engaging, atmospheric show that sucks you in right away. I love the complexity of the female characters in this show.

9. Parks and Rec
Leslie Knope is me, I am Leslie Knope.

10. My Mad Fat Diary
Hands down the most beautiful show I’ve ever watched. If I could convince everyone on this planet and in the galaxy to watch My Mad Fat Diary, I would. It handles mental health and self-worth in the most poignant and touching way possible.

Rae Earl represents so many women who are dealing with mental health and body image issues, and how they can overcome them.

Have you watched any of these shows? Or have any recommendations for me based on my faves? (I'm always on the hunt for my new Netflix binge!?
