SYNOPSIS:
From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El under the direction of Zack Snyder.
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. My Thoughts:
I...loved it! It was definitely action-filled scenes. As expected from director Zack Snyder, the film was visually stunning. We saw a vision of Krypton as it laid out the foundation of the storyline/plot. Henry Cavill did an amazing job in his role as Clark Kent/Kal-El. This film is definitely a different vision of our favorite superhero, but after watching it, it is an epic film...one of the best I have seen. I'm no professional, but I grew up watching Super man films and television series that has made it to the big screen and the television screen. With amazing screenwriters, David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan, they created a story that gave us a brief history to Kal-El's origin.
First off, we get a brief glimpse of what happened on Krypton which prompts Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer) to send their only son, Kal-El, to Earth. In addition to that decision, we also get a glimpse of the conflict between Jor-El and General Zod (Michael Shannon); hence, General Zod's obsession to find Kal-El.
Although we only see Clark's life in flashbacks, it reveals much of what he had to overcome and what he learned from living with his adoptive parents and growing up on Earth. I thought that was an ingenious way of telling Clark's story without having to go into great detail of his life as a young boy and as a teenager.
Fast forward, Clark ends up working on a military site where an unknown ship is found in the ice. This is where it starts to get really interesting. Clark Kent finds the answers he's been looking for and more. Like every Superman film and TV show, it is always exciting when our superhero dons the trademark suit! Soon enough, he is flying through the clouds!
Hence, the plots thickens when General Zod comes to Earth. We learn how in flashbacks as he tells Kal-El. This confrontation leads to a lot of chaos and destruction as General Zod and Kal-El battles it out; Kal-El trying to save Earth and General Zod trying to destroy it to rebuild Krypton. But, during all that did it drop hints of a possible sequel with Lex Luthor...hmmm!!??!! Will "Lexcorp" have a hand at rebuilding Metropolis!!??!! We will have to wait and see....
All that action definitely kept me at the edge of my seat with the amazing CGI effects. The cast was great as well. Michael Shannon as General Zod was an amazing villain. Henry Cavill has joined the others that have donned the suit of our favorite superhero.
Although I have read a variety of not-so-good reviews of Man of Steel, by the reactions I get from friends, I would say that fans are disagreeing with many of these not-so-good reviews. But, oh well, to each there own...right!!??!! I, for one, loved it! And, I liked the direction Zack Snyder, David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan is taking the story.
Since there is rumor of a Man of Steel sequel, as long as the original cast reprises their roles, I am all for it!
In the end, I would say it is a definite "must see" film.
