Synopsis:
Welcome to Neverland. Where shadows consume and magic is frighteningly real.

Ava is struggling to provide for herself and her sister, who slips further into insanity with each passing day. Raving about Neverland. Obsessed with a Second Star that Ava can’t see in the black, velvety sky. Until the night Belle succumbs to the terrifying shadows plaguing her and sweeps Ava away to a land that is only supposed to exist in storybooks.

Neverland is real. And so is Peter Pan.

He's grown from boy to man, wielding a terrible power he uses to rule the island. When he senses Ava’s presence and sends his Lost Boys to collect her, a dashing captain with a silver hook for a hand comes to her defense. He offers her protection aboard his ship, and the help of his crew to find Belle before Peter and his Lost Boys do. But what he asks for in return might be more than she or her sister can possibly pay.

Belle once stole something invaluable from Peter Pan, something Hook and his crew need if they’re ever to escape the cursed island’s thrall. And despite their undeniable attraction, Hook will do anything to claim it before Pan can.

The Last Lost Girl is an atmospheric adventure in the land we all thought we knew, where secrets swirl within shadows, the banter is witty, the romance scorches, and the characters a shade darker than morally gray.

*Excerpt*

He slowly circles me. “You remind me of the Second Star. A bright, glittering beacon. Just look at your eyes... they aren’t jaded in the least.”

I fight the urge to swallow. “If I’m the Second Star, what are you?”

“I’m the darkness that surrounds it. The reason it must burn. The night that smothers it,” he says.

My heart beats harder. It reverberates in my chest, my ears. And the strangest feeling screams within me, not one born from fear, but something fierce that flares to match his threat… I’ve dealt with shadows all my life. You can’t possibly scare me.

**About the Author**
Casey L. Bond lives on a rural farm in West Virginia with her husband and their two beautiful daughters. She writes phoenixes – gloriously flawed and morally gray characters that fiercely rise from the ashes of their circumstances. World building is one of her favorite hobbies, along with stamping metal jewelry, swimming, and enjoying the beauty of nature. She thinks thunderstorms are better than coffee and that watching a meteor shower is the closest thing to magic you might ever see. She’s a firm believer that every amazing book needs a world you want to wrap yourself in, a character you want to win, and a love you would fight for.

Casey is the award-winning author of When Wishes BleedGravebriar, and House of Eclipses.

***My Thoughts***

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

Absolutely fascinating storytelling! The Last Lost Girl is a dark and riveting retelling of the Peter Pan fairytale. I have listened to a couple of other audiobooks of Casey L. Bond's books, and she continues to enthrall me with her words. The narrator, Raven Wildewood, does a marvelous job in voicing the characters. The story, the climbing tension, the drama, and... let's not forget the CLIFFHANGER! Oh, of course, the cliffhanger left me in a tizzy! I was completely at a loss wondering what's going to happen next and in what direction is this story going?

Wow! What a story! A whirlwind adventure. Dark and complex characters. A fascinating story! The Last Lost Girl is definitely a fairytale retelling worth diving into! I look forward to the next book, because cliffhangers just keeps my nerves frazzled...Haha!
