JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Fear the Walking Dead S1 E2 "So Close, Yet So Far"

About the Show:
Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Cast:
Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Lorenzo James Henrie, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, Patricia Reyes SpĂndola.

*My Thoughts*

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

And I thought the first episode was dramatic and intense, episode 2 proves to be just as intense. It is definitely building to "how The Walking Dead all started." After getting to know the Clarks, this episode gives us more about Travis, his son, and his ex-wife. The Salazars are also introduced in this episode as more incidents occur all over the city.

Now, that's three families from different walks of life that is forcibly coming together as more of the dead rise up and start walking. And yet, the "cause" of it is still shrouded in mystery. But...it's happening. Events are happening a bit more quicker now as more of the "dead" rises. We've already seen a few deaths happen already. We've seen a few of the dead rising and walking. It is expected that we won't see too much of the walking dead as of yet since it's just started to spread.

As for the multiple storylines, each one are intertwined one way or another, and, so far, each episode transitions each one to another with a flow that keeps it from getting confusing. The connection of each of these characters are revealed as the series progresses...so far. We will have to keep watching to see how these families cope and deal with the catastrophic events that is happening all around them.

On to the next episode! For now, get a couple sneak peeks of episode 3!
