*My Thoughts*
Well, it looks like everyone is losing it...one way or another. Daniel, for one, is seeing things. Didn't realize how religious he is. He doesn't show it, but, in this episode, in the midst of superstition with all the people the compound, it is apparent that Daniel does believe it to some level. Then, there is Chris...he's very troubled, especially since witnessing so much death. Wouldn't it mentally mess you up if someone asked you to kill him or her to end their suffering?!? It would bother me, especially if that person is looking straight at me. I don't think that airline passenger has ever left his mind. Yup! Chris is lashing out... Then, there's Nick! He's all out gone... I don't know. He's already believing Celia in regards to the dead. Nick's  also gone "invincible" in regards to walking among the dead. Yeah, he's got his own "demons" to deal with; and it seems like he's reaching out to Celia for answers.

I don't know!!! Daniel is hearing things! Now, he's seeing his dead wife. Uhhh...yeah! He's losing it alright. But, then again, if you had that much "ghosts" haunting you...wouldn't you lose it, too!?!

As for Strand, he is grieving! Although Celia and everyone else shuns him for not committing suicide, Strand is definitely a survivor.

Poor Travis is in the middle of all this family drama, but, in the end, he has to help his son. It's about time!!! He was so intent on helping Madison all the time that he was pretty much blind to Chris's needs. For goodness sake, Chris lost his mother! Chris witnessed a lot of death. Travis realizes he has to stay with his son and help him. He decides not to go back to the compound. It's about time that he put Chris first. Talk about dysfunctional family...haha! Nick returns to the compound and tells Madison that he didn't find them.

And wow...the people in the compound look towards Celia for guidance and leadership. But, superstition seems to run the place. Even Nick succumbs to that way. He even brought Luis, Celia's son, back to the compound. That's just very disturbing. O-kay now! It is also disturbing that Nick relishes covering himself with the blood of the dead. Ummm...something to worry about? I don't know... I one point, I wanted to slap Nick upside the head...haha!

Did Madison just trick Celia?!? Sure looks like it. Convince Celia that she wants to understand. Celia takes Madison to the cellar to show her and explain to her about the dead. Then, when Celia isn't looking, Madison looks the cellar "door" behind her. But...Celia shows no fear.

Then...Daniel gets free, after having a conversation with his dead wife, and heads to the cellar. He pours gasoline and sets it on fire. All the while, he just stands in the middle of the blaze while the dead comes towards him. However, where is Celia!?! She was locked in that same cellar! Now, the whole compound is ablaze. Who will survive this fire?

We see Strand, Ofelia, Alicia, and Madison leaving in the truck. Nick refuses to leave with them; moreover, he is angry with Madison and decides to continue walking with the dead. Travis and Chris goes off on their own...to where, we don't know.

Definitely, a complicated episode! A lot of open-ended storylines for these complicated characters. What will happen next for this group. Will they come back together? Or will they each come to their end by the dead? We will have to wait when the show returns for the second half of the season!

What a midseason finale! Whoa!!

Until the next episode!

Season 1 recap

Episode 6 Synopsis:
Conflict erupts in a fial push towards Strand's destination. Chris makes a decision that shakes the family. Nick meets a new maternal figure.

~~~~~
*My Thoughts*
At the start of the episode, on the Baja-front, a church full of parishioners dies (in a prologue to the episode/flashback)...of what, we do not know...yet. However, before they die, Tom Abigail and the priest exchange a few words...regarding "she." We soon come to find out who this "she" is.
Well, crossing into Mexico didn't go off as planned. Finally! They made it to Mexico! But, they arrived with some casualties. In their attempt to cross into Mexico, Luis gets shot and, eventually dies. However, not without giving Nick a message to pass to his mother. Moreover, he asks them to give an odd coin, with an owl on its face, to his mother. Strange... That "owl" seems to mean something, but Daniel seems to have recognized what it is then throws it into the water. I don't know, but it looks like Daniel is...losing it.
The group reaches the church to find a deserted town and an empty church. Strand panics when he sees Tom's truck. Very curious to find Tom's truck by the church, but no Tom. Dead parishioners starts walking out of everywhere and attacks the group. What!?! They fend them off...Nick, Daniel, and Chris have a moment of hesitation. Well, Daniel seems to be haunted by his past. Nick...hmmm...he just seems bothered with all this death and his part in it. As for Chris, I don't know, he is definitely troubled, and it is building. Chris did just watch Madison get overtaken by a dead man, and he just froze and watched. Good thing Alicia saw it and saved her mother. The group gets away on Tom's truck.
The compound looks like everything the group thought it would be. Or is it? The first thing Strand searches for is Tom. But he gives Celia bad news about Luis. Strange...how Celia doesn't react wildly to the news that her son has died.
In this episode, Victor and Thomas's relationship is even more noticeable.  Victor isn't as cold-hearted or calculating as he seemed in the beginning. We see why he was so determined to reach Baja; and to whom he was speaking to on the satellite phone. But, he finds that Thomas has been bitten, and doesn't have much time left.
Daniel is suspicious of Celia, with good reason, especially after finding a cellar filled with the dead. Hmmm...sure seems like there was a similar situation in an episode of The Walking Dead when Glenn found a barn filled with the dead as well. Hmmm... "safety" definitely is an illusion in this world. Well, Daniel looks like his past is creeping up on him, especially now that they are in the heart of where he and his family escaped...Mexico.
Nick and Ofelia's "relationship" continues to grow. Plus, it is interesting how Nick is drawn to Celia...a mother figure. Travis and Madison's relationship gets even more strained when it comes to their children. Chris has a lot on his mind...but then again, who wouldn't!?! That's a lot of death that he is witnessing at his young age. Ofelia is starting to worry about her father. Is Chris a threat to Madison and Alicia? Or is he just tired and troubled with everything that has happened...like Nick? Alicia seems to think he is, but then again, she's also troubled as well...aren't they all?!?
Victor is seriously considering suicide...just to be with Tom? Celia prepares Thomas for death, and Victor is deep in thought. Celia is proud of Victor? She didn't like him from the beginning, then she's proud of him for deciding to commit suicide!?! Huh...very odd to say the least. However, Victor decides not to take the Communion wafer and shoots Thomas is the head. But, it is apparent on Victor's face that he made a very difficult decision. This will be a burden he will carry.
This show continues to develop and progress as these characters find a way to survive and keep it together. Even in Mexico, this infection has spread throughout...no one is safe.
Until the next episode!
Season 1 recap
~~~

Episode 5 Synopsis:
Alicia works to reunite with her family. Travis meets a familiar face. Madison and Nick lead a charge to save their family against all odds.

~~~~~
*My Thoughts*
Travis and Alicia are now captives...where? We don't know. It looks like this Jack that Alicia was talking to on the radio is part of this group. Why they took them, we still don't know.
Apparently, Jack had some say about why they took Alicia. But, why take Travis? At first, I figure they will use him as their Mr. Fix-it. But, we soon learn that Alex from Flight 462 is the reason why Travis was taken. She definitely held some hard feelings towards Travis...he did, after all, made that decision for them to stay on the raft.
Reed is injured and threatens them!?! Really!?! Funny...when he's the one tied up and with a crowbar in his side. But, Salazar got all the information he needed to find and rescue Travis and Alicia. However, Chris feels guilty since they were taken. Well, Chris seems very troubled since his mother was killed. Now, it seems that he's feeling alone...since he feels that he lost his father as well. Deep down...he's just a scared kid. Although he's resentful towards his father because his parents split, and since Travis killed his mother. This whole "end of civilization" is taking its toll on everyone.
Come to find out that Alicia was not the one who told Conor and associates about them. Alex from Flight 462 is the one who gave them up. Well, why wouldn't she...she's stranded on a raft and close to death. What was she supposed to do? She was left alone with her dying friend...she's angry! Alex is definitely strong-willed. It will be interesting Madison and Travis get away on the Zodiac and retrieves Alicia in the water.
I wonder what Salazar's story is... He's hearing voices? He's getting lost in his thoughts. Something is triggering this in him... I think we need to learn more about Salazar's past which will probably explain a lot.
Strand is still out of it while he recovers. Luis is not happy that they are on the yacht and that they had to detour to save Travis and Alicia before going to Mexico. Hmmm... What awaits for them in Mexico? Who is Luis paying for passage into Mexico? Has Mexico been affected...yet?
In the end, family comes first. Children have to grow up. And, hard decision have to be made.
There is so much more to learn about these characters. So far, we've learned about Strand...and who this Jack is. It looks like we are learning a bit about Salazar. It's definitely interesting how different their stories are, but yet, they make it work in order to survive. The next question is... Will they all make it to Mexico?
Until the next episode!
Season 1 recap
Episode 3 Synopsis:
Madison confronts Strand about his mysterious destination. Nick, Alicia, and others inspect wreckage from a plane crash.
~~~~~

*My Thoughts*
Nice! This third episode connected that web series, Flight 462, into the series! I mean seriously, there had to be a connection somewhere since it is in the same The Walking Dead universe...haha! However, we did get a little bit of a tease to this connection in Season 1 when Nick saw a "plane" fly by. We then see where the plane crashed in this second season.

The episode opens with the survivors of the plane crash. It is apparent that the Abigail is sailing in the vicinity of it when one of the survivors get caught up in its filtration system causing Abigail to stop. They notice remnants from the crash on shore and decide to scavenge for supplies. While the kids rummage through the wreckage, Madison questions Strand about this mysterious location.

While Travis works on fixing the boat, Madison and Strand discusses their trust issues. Well, things do have to change when they are all in the "same boat"...per se...haha! Pun intended. Even the children is "stepping up" in this new situation they are in. Nice surprise to see Nick has grown since the first season. These young adults had to grow up fast considering the circumstances. Then there is Salazar having his reason for accompanying the them to shore. He seems to have opened up a bit to Madison, but he does have some serious trust issues...hmmm. What's his back story... Although Ofelia keeps to herself, Nick befriends her.

Chris wanders off and finds a part of the plane as he searches for supplies. What he finds will affect him in more ways than one. Well, he ends up somewhat in the same situation his father was in with Liza when he finds a dying survivor. It's completely different "killing" a dead person. He had to kill a dying man. Now, that will mess with you in the head.

Now, where are all the bodies of all those passengers from the plane?!? We soon find out when a survivor comes out running towards them. Plus, Nick runs into a couple himself. This is definitely not a "good" situation. Two survivors go back with them to the Abigail to Strand's dismay. He is not happy about it. Travis and Madison comes to a compromise...again, to Strand's dismay. Who is he!?! It is apparent that there's more to him than he's letting on. It is also obvious that he puts up with the group...for a reason. Strand does what Strand does well... He let go of the two plane crash survivors.

This journey continues to be mysterious, yet this will not be the last encounter they will come across on the water.

Until the next episode!

Here's a Season 1 recap

~~~
Episode 1 Synopsis:
The families flee a burning Los Angeles on Strand's yacht. Strand remains mysterious. The group encounters danger at sea.
~~~~~

*My Thoughts*
This first episode of this new season starts off in the midst of chaos as Los Angeles burns. The city is overrun with the dead, and they flee onto Strand's yacht. For now, they seem to be safe on Abigail as they search for anywhere that is "safe." Chris mourns his mother...and carries the anger that his father killed her. She was infected! He had no choice. Although Chris knows this, he still is angry...of course, he's been angry with Travis for some time now...killing his mother just added to his resentment.

Tension rises as they set out to sea. As they move further away from land, they pass other survivors needing help. The need to help themselves and their families overrides the need to help others. It's survival mode now. Will the situation put more strain on Travis and Madison's relationship? No one likes the situation, but they have to do what they have to do to survive.

Alicia strikes up a conversation with Jack over the radio. While Strand avoids contact with other people, Alicia continues to converse with this person, and, eventually, revealing their location to this guy.

Moreover, Liza, Chris's mother, is laid to rest at sea. As Travis delivers a brief eulogy for her, Chris's resentment boils over and he abruptly ends this funeral at sea. Travis doesn't know what to do and asks Madison for help with Chris. Madison seems to be able to say the right words to Chris...and it seems to have sunk in.

They have their suspicions about Strand, but he did help them. However, it doesn't mean that Strand isn't keeping something from them. But, it doesn't hurt to be cautious...and that what he is doing, especially when they run into a capsized boat and its passengers floating dead in the water. Maybe there is a reason to his madness. But, Strand does seem to know more than he's letting on.

As they spend time on the yacht, we see how each of them deal and process what has happened as they try to figure out what to do next. Their world has been turned upside down, and now, they have to rely on each other to remain safe and alive. They are also learning about each others strengths and vulnerabilities. I can see that there is more about them that we don't know.

Season one created the world and introduced us to these characters. Now, in Season two, we will see the beginning of how they deal with their situation; and how they deal with other survivors.

Well, it's only the start of their survival. We will have to see where the ocean takes them. Are they any more safer at sea than on land? Is there a safe place to go? Or is there really "No Safe Harbor?" They will soon find out.

Until the next episode!

JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Fear the Walking Dead Season 1

About the Show:
Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Cast:
Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Lorenzo James Henrie, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, Patricia Reyes Spíndola.

*My Thoughts*

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

Season 1 has ended, and now, I can't wait for Season 2! Season 1 ended with everyone pondering what is next. Since I wasn't able to post a review per episode, I figure I will binge watch the entire season and post a review as a whole. Good thing I did that instead...haha! Time is definitely not on my side in trying to keep up reviewing episodes.

So, of course, the season starts off with the introducing of the characters that this series will focus on. Plus, the introduction to this impending catastrophe that this whole show is created around. As the show's story unravels, character development continues. The body count continues to rise and community unrest intensifies. With each episode, we learn more and more about each character and how each one interacts and connects with each other. From different walks of life, each character continues to deal with what is happening and how they each deal with the situation...considering the circumstances. It is apparent that everyone has a history in which it will either help or hinder them from dealing with the growing problem of the "dead walking." They are forced together due to...not just the dead...but also the living. From that moment, they form this uneasy relationship on how they are to survive...while the body count continues to "rise."

How this all started is still a mystery. Of course, when there is a state of calamity, the military intervenes to try and create some kind of order and to try and keep "it" from spreading. But, at some point, the military's tactics in controlling the "problem" is not what it seems.

Although the season seemed slow, this was a good start into this new series. Season 1, for the most part, is an introduction to these impacted characters and an "explanation" on how the "walking dead" started. The show delves into the emotional and the psychological state of these characters, especially when they all come from different walks of life. Moreover, it is apparent that there is more to their individual personal histories. How it may help them during this time of catastrophe is yet to be seen. But, so far, they seem to be handling the situation as well as they can. Also, it seems that they each have to deal with their own demons while trying to survive.

I am definitely looking forward to the next season as we continue to see these characters grow and deal with the changes all around them and within themselves.

For now, while we wait for Season 2, here's a look at the next season!
