Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special

For many Doctor Who fans, this is the most anticipated special to watch! Yes, the 50th Anniversary Celebration is upon us! And, BBC America has prepared for such a celebration.

About the Show
The occasion will be marked by a global simulcast of The Day of the Doctor, an all-new 75-minute special starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, David Tennant as the Tench Doctor and John Hurt as the mysterious "rogue" Doctor. Also starring Jenna Coleman and Billie Piper, The Day of the Doctor premieres November 23 at 2:50pm ET, with a primetime encore presentation at 7pm ET.

Rounding out the celebration, An Adventure in Space and Time premieres November 22 at 9/8c. This docudrama reveals the fascinating story behind how it all began 50 years ago David Bradley stars as First Doctor William Hartnell.

The Twelfth Doctor, recently revealed as Peter Capaldi, will make his first appearance in this year's Christmas special, succeeding Matt Smith in the role.

Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith first stepped into the TARDIS in 2010 and will leave the role at the end of this year after starring in the unmissable 50th Anniversary in November and regenerating in the Christmas special. During his time as the Doctor, Matt has reached over 30 million unique UK viewers and his incarnation has seen the show go truly global. He was also the first actor to be nominated for a BAFTA in the role. We're celebrating Matt Smith's legacy with an all-new behind-the-scenes special; The Doctors Revisited - The Eleventh Doctor special premieres Sunday, November 24 at 8/7c.

Recently, a 50th Anniversary special trailer was released giving fans a little "taste" of what to expect.
