*My Thoughts*
Well...that was an interesting finale for the first season of Shadowhunters. A lot has happened, just in this episode alone. This finale pretty much tied up this first season together. The one thing they dreaded has happened... Valentine has the Mortal Cup. Jace's confusion and emotional state regarding Valentine has got him in an identity crisis. However, Clary isn't giving up on helping Jace get through this. Jace is just lost; he needs to figure out who he really is. This is definitely a struggle that Clary and Jace will have to overcome and get through.
Our favorite shadowhunters definitely have trouble coming. Valentine has got an army of new shadowhunters at his disposal. What will the Clave do now...now that Valentine has the Mortal Cup. Plus, Jocelyn is finally awake! Maybe now, Jocelyn can shed some light on Valentine, his plans, and Clary's memories. Yeah, there's a lot of questions that needs answers in...and Jocelyn may have those answers they need.
Alec and Magnus has a bumpy road ahead of them as they explore this relationship. Good for Alec in facing his Maryse regarding his choices. Found it interesting that Maryse wasn't so much as bothered that Alec chose a man...but she was more bothered that Alec chose Magnus...haha! Hmmm...is there hope that the Lightwood parents will accept Alec's choices?!?
Tensions rise between the shadowhunters and the vampires, especially since they did free Camille from her prison. Well, now that she's out, we may be seeing more of her...?!? She's an interesting and fun character. Camille, just like Magnus, can bring some history into the series...they are, after all, immortal....hahaha!
This first season has not come to the end, I can actually say that this season was a good beginning into this series. And now, we are left with somewhat of a cliffhanger...haha! Shadowhunters and downworlders alike have major threat coming their way with Valentine and his army.
Although the start was pretty uncertain, story and character development was gradually improving with each episode. Great character development. Well thought out world-building and storylines. Yes, the series went off away from the book series, but this is an adaptation. The direction of the television series stayed pretty close to the book, but then took on a life of its own. I am definitely looking forward to more seasons. I hope others are as well.
Until the next season Shadowhunters!
Last moments from the Season 1 finale!
