But life has a way of changing things.

Her secrets from the past begin to slowly resurface, threatening to rock her world again in the dark and destructive ways it had years earlier.
Can Daniela face the demons from her past, when they are determined to finish what was started?
Will the people she has begun opening up to, be able to survive her secrets as well as their own?

*Interview with M.L. Garcia*
  1. Thank you for taking the time for this interview! I thought we could start with the all-too-common question, what inspired you to become a writer? When did you first know you wanted to become a writer?
I have always loved to write since my first short story in third grade; after that I wrote mostly poetry.  Now that I've read so many great novels, it motivated me to want to pursue my old love for writing again.  So, I guess it is safe to say that I've always wanted to be a writer but at this point in my life, it just feels like the best time to give-it-a-go with my first full-length novel.
  1. What literary works and/or authors have made an impression on you in regards to your writing?
Love this question. I tend to read more contemporary romance stories but I also love suspense, thrillers and some sci-fi stories.  I'd have to say these are some of my favorite authors & titles of their work:
  • Indie-Author Ginger Scott(Waiting On The Sidelines),
  • Jamie McGuire(Beautiful Disaster, Red Hill),
  • Jennifer L. Armentrout(Wait For You, The Lux Series),
  • Stephen King(pretty much everything he writes like IT, The Stand, etc.),
  • Nicholas Sparks(almost all of his novels are great like The Notebook, Dear John, A Walk To Remember, etc.),
  • Gary Jennings(Aztec Blood),
  • Penelope Ward(Jake Undone, My Skylar) and
  • Richelle Mead(Vampire Academy Series, Bloodlines Series).
  1. What is your writing process: do you write when inspiration hits you or do you isolate yourself and write hours one end?
When I have an idea for a story, I quickly write down a short rough-draft so I guess I tend to write when I'm inspired. Every chance I get after that, I begin my first full-length write up.  Then, I revise and proofread the heck out of my story and get beta-readers to go through it, too. I currently have about seven ideas saved for future novels and I will be working on those when I can.  .
  1. What gave you the idea or inspiration to write What She Lost and Found?
I wanted to write a romance but something that had suspense and a deeper storyline that went beyond the romance.  It touches on a very serious subject with the main female character, Daniela, and I wanted to write about how she deals with the ups and downs of her life.  I admire those who can go through such a heartbreaking time in their life and still be able to overcome and grow beyond that.
  1. How much of the book is from imagination or real life experiences? Or both?
This story is pure fiction but I've heard many stories of survivors that inspired me to write about the serious topics covered in What She Lost And Found.
  1. Which character(s) were your favorite to write? Which one(s) was the hardest?
My favorite characters to write were the three main characters: Daniela, Nathan and Alex.  They each have their flaws and strengths.  The hardest one to write was Daniela because I wanted to convey her story the way I imagined it.  Despite suffering hardships at such a young age, she has to continue to grow as a person despite the challenges she is faced with.
  1. If you could be any of your characters, who would you be?
I would say I'd be Bridget (Daniela's present-day friend).  She has her own rocky-history and still finds a special love-interest and keeps an upbeat personality regardless of her past. : )
  1. Are your characters based on people you know or your imagination?
They are based on my imagination but influenced by the challenges and choices people are faced with in real life.  I did get some inspiration from 'real life' people but not enough to say any character is completely anyone in particular.
  1. If/when you get "writers block," how and what do you do to get over it?
I usually step-away for a moment.  I'll go get a snack, watch a little T.V. and clear my mind.  Usually after doing that for a little while, I'll go back to write again and I normally fall back into a good pace.  It never fails.
  1. What are you currently working on? What can we, readers, expect in the near future?
I already have my next novel in the works, the rough draft anyway.  My second novel will be a little darker and grittier.  It will be a contemporary romance and suspense but it will be different in many ways in comparison to What She Lost And Found. There will be a main female character faced with different kinds of challenges, there will be a HEA, there will be a hot-ex-military-man, some bikers and a bad-guy out for revenge.  It won't disappoint.
  1. What books have you read and enjoyed recently?
This is Falling by Ginger Scott, Sweet Fall by Tillie Cole and Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout are the stories I've most recently read.  They are all great stories! : )
  1. I have a lot of friends who are aspiring writers, what advice would you give them?
To anyone aspiring to be a writer, go for it. Whether you choose to find a publisher or independently publish on your own, continue to write.  Put your mind and heart into it and just follow through.  Let your imagination lead the way.
