About the Show
Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman's (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities, and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents' help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.
Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photgrapher James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara's days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret ageny where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Episode 5 - "Livewiere"
Synopsis:
Kara's Thanksgiving may be ruined when she suspects her foster mother, Dr. Danvers (Helen Slater), who is coming to town, disapproves of her new role as a superhero. Also, when an accident transforms a volatile CatCo employee into the villainous Livewire, she targets Cat and Supergirl.
My Thoughts
Well, in light of the horrific Paris events, CBS decided to skip Episode 4 and show Episode 5. I can understand the delicate nature of it all. So, anyways, this Episode introduces viewers to another non-alien villain that Supergirl will tackle. Of course, this happens during the Thanksgiving holiday. Supergirl not only battles villain(s) in the city, she also have to battle family issues on the homefront. As the series opened, we learned much of Kara's past. Now, we also get a glimpse of Kara's life with her human family. We also get more of a glimpse on Cat (Calista Flockhart).
Kara has established herself as Supergirl, but she still has a lot to do to really hone her skills. She's still learning. More character development is still happening as more background history is revealed on these characters. The subtle romance that is growing between Kara and James (Mehcad Brooks). Of course, Kara's life on Earth is being revealed ever so subtly. We also learn of some secrets that the Danvers family have kept.
However, because of the switch up on episodes, there was that little comment that Winn makes to Kara that wouldn't make sense since Episode 4 didn't air...yet. But, when Episode 4 airs, it can serve as a flashback of what Winn's comment meant...haha!
Well, for now, let's get a sneak peek at Episode 4 - "How Does She Do It?"
Monday Nights 8/7c on CBS
