JASMINE's THOUGHTS on Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code in this action-packed paranormal thriller, the first book in a new series from New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia.

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn't know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy's room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible to protecting the world from a vengeful demon - a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother's place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon -- battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, best-selling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.

Unbreakable will be available October 1, 2013

My Thoughts
First off, I had the amazing opportunity to get an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of Kami Garcia's new book Unbreakable at SDCC 2013! Thank you Kami!! I was stoked to even have it signed by her! It is always so much fun to visit favorite authors at events!

So, yes, I read this amazing new story by Kami Garcia! It definitely was a page turner. I was drawn in to Kennedy's plight into the supernatural. Kami immediately pulled me in to Kennedy's world of ghosts, spirits and demons with the events that followed after the death of Kennedy's mother. As I read the book, the characters, especially Lukas and Jared Lockhart, reminded me of one of my favorite shows Supernatural. With all the plot twists and clues, I couldn't put the book down. I just had to keep "riding" along with the characters to solve this mystery. All is not what it seems as each of these characters, especially Kennedy, comes to find out. These characters are only teenagers thrust into this dark supernatural world with only journals that was left to them to guide them.

Kami Garcia did an amazing dark world in which these teens are thrown into a world that they are not really ready for, especially Kennedy. Told in Kennedy's point of view, she learns about that there is more in the world that can hurt her...and it is not only ghosts. Her characters are so well developed that I completely enjoyed their individual personalities. There is no mistaking that they are teenagers...making mistakes, learning from it, and having to grow up fast under the circumstances. The plot will take readers into the dark and supernatural world of ghosts and demons...along with secrets.

Yup! Unbreakable is definitely an action-packed, fast-paced, creepy, suspenseful and thrilling "road trip" for these young hunters... and readers! I absolutely enjoyed going on this "road trip" with Kennedy, Lukas, Jared, Alara and Priest! I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in of The Legion Series by Kami Garcia!

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
