*My Thoughts*

Whoa! O-M-G! And every other exclamatory remark that I can't think of at this moment!  What a build up of the story from Ascension and Destiny to Catalyst! There is action. There is adventure! There is espionage. There is intrigue! I was at the "edge of my seat" with anticipation as the continued build up to the start of this intense war. As if I was watching a freakin' movie and the descriptive way the author laid out the climax of this book had me all tied up in a bunch of nervous tension as I had to know what happened next.

But what does Perry Covington do!!??!! OMG!  Really!!??!! A cliffhanger!!! A freakin' cliffhanger! I'm left with all these "feels" and there's a cliffhanger! I seriously had to take a moment to just process everything I read in this third book. As I processed what I read...and "experienced" ... I started to remember what I read from the beginning with the first and second books. Wow! What all these characters, especially Max, had endured on this journey. And, yet, thinking back, Max had grown up since the start of this journey of discovery.

Perry Covington's writing has a flair for the dramatics with his intense world-building and complex characters creating this story of action and adventure. He definitely has the ingenuity to pull readers into his world of fantastic characters and out of this world settings. Fans of Star Wars and Indiana Jones would enjoy this amazing read...and get lost in this world that the author created. I so look forward to reading book 4!

I seriously NEED to read it...like now! LOL!

*My Thoughts*

Wow! And I thought Child of Atlantis: Ascension (book 1) was incredibly descriptive! The descriptive world-building took me on another adventure through history and mythology, so intriguing that it kept me turning the pages. Perry Covington's characters, with their distinct and individual personalities, created a dramatic and animated flair to the story. I ended up empathizing with each individual young character as they continued to deal with all the obstacles and trials that was laid in front of them, especially Max. Then, there's Wayland...finding out about his true heritage, just like Max had learned. It definitely was a shocker finding out there is a whole different world around them.

From Ascension to Destiny, the author expanded on his descriptive world-building and character development. We learned more about each character, which, in turn, revealed a lot about their choices and decisions they make. For such young characters, they have endured a lot more than any average young adult endures in their lives. But, they aren't your average teenagers....right?!? However, they are still teenagers and act as such...which teenagers can relate to. Moreover, these teenagers are placed in a position that forces them to grow up a lot sooner than they should.

Being a fan of pop culture, the onslaught of references to various fandoms made this read even more so enjoyable and exciting. Fangirls and fanboys alike would definitely give a nod to the many references found throughtout this read (I think) since I found myself smirking with amusement.

Child of Atlantis: Destiny is, yet again, another incredible journey into world behind another world. Filled with various action and adventure scenes that will keep readers on the "edge of their seats" and cheering on our heroes as they continue on their plight to save the world.

*My Thoughts*

First off....whoa! Child of Atlantis: Ascension is the first of seven in a series which is filled with adventure, action, mystery, and teen angst. I was completely drawn in from the beginning when Max, your normal average teen, learns that there is more to his world that he knows of. With well developed characters and imaginative world-building, Perry created and action/adventure story filled with fantasy, science-fiction, and mythological elements that kept me turning the pages. Of course, there is also the possibility of a teen romance....well, you know how teens are, "someone has a crush on somebody"...hahaha!! I loved how it was subtly written in, and not overpowering that it dominated the story.

I also loved all the references to popular fandoms...this is something any fangirl/fanboy can relate to. And...that cliffhanger!!??!! Whoa! That definitely threw me for a loop! This book definitely has many layers, from the past to the present, that intertwined together creating that fast-paced, even flow in telling Max's story.

Child of Atlantis: Ascension is definitely a "fun" read for both teens and adults who are big fans of comic books, movies, (video)games, and books. Being a fangirl/booknerd myself, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the fandom references... It was hilarious to find it incorporated into the story! I am already excited to read book 2, Child of Atlantis: Destiny...must find out what happens next!
