*Excerpt*
Our lives are changing completely. It won’t just be me and Ivy anymore. We’ll have someone to take care of. Someone who solely depends on us.

          Scary.

“Oh, Archer,” Ivy says, pulling me from my thoughts.

Turning to face her, I see that her eyes are filling with tears and her face looks ready to crumple. I go to her, grabbing hold of her hands and giving them a squeeze. “What’s wrong, baby?”

“I feel bad.” A little sob escapes her as she shakes her head. I tug her in as close as I can, slinging my arm around her waist. “I’m going to ruin Gage’s wedding.”

“No you’re not. It’s going to be one of the most memorable weddings ever. No one will forget this day,” I say, smoothing my hand over her hair. I want her reassured, not worrying about wedding plans. Everything we know is going to change in mere hours.

“Exactly. It’s supposed to be Gage and Marina’s day and instead it’s going to turn into our day. Our child’s day. How selfish are we?”

“We’re not selfish. We can’t help it if you’re going into labor right now. It’s not like we did it on purpose.” I shed the rest of my clothes quickly, throwing on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. “Speaking of labor, we need to get going. Are you ready? Get some shoes on, babe.” I give her a gentle push out of my embrace and toward the closet door across our bedroom.

“We? Who’s the one who’s about to give birth?” Ivy mutters as she shuffles toward the closet. A little snort escapes her. “You won’t have anything to do with this labor stuff, Archer. This is all on me.”

“And I think you’re going to do an amazing job. You’re the strongest women I know,” I say.

At those words, my wife promptly bursts into tears.

*Excerpt*
I’m going to have a baby,” Ivy declares as she stops directly in front of me. Well, her belly stopped directly in front of me, the rest of her soon follows.
Yes, indeed, my wife is definitely going to have a baby. Soon.
I’m getting ready—staring at the mirror as I mess with my tie, making sure it’s perfect—when she approaches me. I shoot her a grin, feeling good, feeling on top of my game. Life couldn’t get any better, you know? We’re celebrating today and with good reason.
“I know, sexy mama.” I turn away from the mirror and wink at her. “Trust me, I haven’t forgotten that I’m the one who knocked you up.”
She stares at me, no reaction to my wink or my words. She usually slaps my ass and kisses me. Says something sarcastic at the very least. But I’m getting nothing. And it’s kind of disconcerting. “Archer. I’m dead serious. I’m going to have the baby.”
“I know, babe. And I can’t freaking wait.” I study her, noticing that she looks a little pale and her pupils are dilated. Hmm. “You feeling okay?”
Rolling her eyes, she rests her hand on top of her protruding stomach, rubbing it absently. Then not so absently. As in, she’s clutching her belly like she’s in pain. “I’m in—” She sucks in a harsh breath, holding it for a few seconds. “—labor, damn it.”

*Author Interview*
1. Thank you for taking the time for this interview! I thought we could start with the all-too-common question, especially for readers who are new to your books, what inspired you to become a writer?
Thank you so much for having me! I was a huge reader from the time I was in kindergarten. When I discovered my mom's romance books stashed away in the hall closet and devoured a bunch, I knew I wanted to be a writer someday. It took me a few years (more than a few - life just kept getting in the way, you know?) but I finally sat down and started writing toward publication in 2005. I was first published as Karen Erickson in 2006. The rest is history...
2.  What books/authors inspire you? Favorite books/authors?
I really don't like to single out any books and/or authors only because there are so many fabulous books/authors out there and a lot of them are my friends! I can say that I was inspired by historical authors of the 80s. Jude Deveraux and Judith McNaught were definite inspirations.
3.  How did you get into writing New Adult novels? What other genres do you write?
I read a bunch and thought I'd really like to write one. I came up with an idea and...started writing. That book turned into ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND. I also write contemporary romance, I've written erotic romance and historical romance (as Karen Erickson, my other pen name).

4.  What is your writing process: do you write when inspiration hits you or do you isolate yourself and write hours on end?
I'm a fulltime writer so I can't wait for inspiration to hit. This is my job and how I support my family. So I try and write every single day though when I'm really caught up in a book and on deadline and needing to finish? Yes, I can definitely write hours on end.
5.  What do you do when/if you get stuck while writing?
I'm not a real believer in writer's block but I of course, do get stuck or bored or I'd rather check Twitter or whatever. I'm easily distracted. So if I'm stuck, a lot of the time I fool around on the internet. Does that help me? Probably not LOL.
6.  What is the best part of being a writer? And the worst?
There are so many things that are great about being a writer. I wear yoga pants to work. I can be there for my kids whenever they need me. I get to stare at hot guys and call it work. I meet wonderful readers and bloggers and reviewers and fellow authors. Oh and I get to hang out in these worlds I created and it's a lot of fun. :)
The worst part of being a writer? There's a lot of pressure sometimes. Most of the time. I want every book to do better, gain more readers, etc. and sometimes that doesn't happen. I really love being a writer, but sometimes those characters I created aren't very cooperative and that gets frustrating too.
7.  What gave you the idea or inspiration to write the Billionaire Bachelors Club books?
Avon put out a call asking for a series that featured billionaires. So I decided to put together a proposal and send it to my editor. She loved my idea, asked for a few tweaks and then offered!
8.  Is the series and/or characters from your imagination or from real people and/or experiences? Or a little bit of both?
Oh, I always try to throw in a bit of realism with my characters. They are about 98% fictional at all times but things happen to them that are from real life experiences. In SAVOR, near the end there's a scene with Bryn and a rooster (I don't want to give too much away!) and everything that happened to her...happened to me! Man, our rooster was mean.
9.  Which character(s) in this series were your favorite to write?
I have a serious soft spot for Archer from CRAVE. He is my favorite of the bachelors. He's the one who came to me first and he's a naughty one. I adore him.
Of the bachelors' women, my favorite was Bryn from SAVOR. She was tremendous fun to write, I think because she's so different compared to Ivy and Marina (from the first two books).
10.  What are you currently working on? What can we, readers, expect in the near future?
Well, the last of the ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND series, FOUR YEARS LATER, will be out March 4th. I'm...working on a few things as Monica quietly and I hope I can announcement more soon. We shall see. As Karen, I'm busy busy and have a packed schedule. The last book of my Game for It series at Entangled's Brazen line should be out in May!
11.  What books have you read and enjoyed recently?
Lauren Blakely's Every Second With You - it was so damn good. Plus I'm about to dive into Katy Evan's newest - being her critique partner means I get to read stuff extra early. Whee...
12.  What are your favorite places to visit?
Maui! My husband and I were married on Maui. I like to go to the beach. I live in CA so we're not too far from the coast which is awesome.
13.  I have a lot of friends who are aspiring writers, what advice would you give them?
Finish the book. I wish I would've taken that advice years ago rather than play around and write a scene here, a scene there. So yes, focus and write the book. Once you do that - and it can be the biggest piece of crap ever written - that's okay. You just proved to yourself that you can finish a book. And that is a tremendous feeling.

A huge thank you to Monica Murphy for joining us on this blog tour & this awesome interview!

*Excerpt*
“Don’t be so cranky. It’s okay to admit you have a thing for Bryn.” Ivy leans forward in her chair, a secretive smile curling her lips. “I have a feeling she has a thing for you too, you know.”
I do know. And I can’t act on it. Bryn James works for me. She’s my assistant. She’s by my side constantly; we spend more time with each other than probably anyone else in our lives, especially lately what with the winery’s grand reopening approaching. She’s a representative of my business. If I were to fuck around with the help and the relationship fell apart, I’d be in huge trouble. She could screw me over financially every which way by suing me for sexual harassment and I’d be left with a limp dick in my hand and a ruined business.
Yeah. Not going to take the chance. Saw it happen with my father. Not going to let it happen to me.
“It doesn’t matter. Nothing can happen.” I send Ivy a stern look. “And this conversation can never leave this office.” Glancing over her shoulder, I try to see if Bryn is at her desk but the chair is empty.
     Thank Christ.
Ivy’s expression goes solemn and she holds up three fingers. “This conversation stays here. Scout’s honor.”
“You were never a scout,” I mutter, afraid she’s making a promise on an untruth. She’ll probably just blab to everyone. Or specifically Archer and Gage. I don’t need to hear their shit.
And I am worrying way too much over this.
She laughs again. “I won’t say a word, I promise. But I need to tell you something, Matt.” She leans in close, her voice dropping. “She’s got a major crush on you. You might not see it but it’s there—sounding in her voice, shining in her eyes, every time she looks at you, talks about you. The way her body turns into yours every time the two of you are together . . . it’s pretty obvious. A body language expert would have a field day with you two.”
Body language expert? What the hell is Ivy talking about? “I have no idea what you’re referring to, but office crushes are just that. Crushes. Harmless attractions no one ever acts on. Period. End of story.”
This is what I keep telling myself. I can’t pursue anything with Bryn, no matter how much I’m tempted to. Not only would it be wildly inappropriate, dating my assistant, but we come from two different worlds. She seems nice and normal, quiet and unobtrusive, and I am anything but. My life has been a circus sideshow for years.
“I get it. You’re trying to do the right thing, and I admire that. So, of course you don’t see anything beyond an efficient assistant in Miss James.”
Well. Ivy’s not too far off the mark. When I first met Bryn, she hardly said two words, kept her head bent when I spoke to her and offered lots of yes-sir and no-sir answers. She had this way of almost blending in with the walls, like she didn’t want anyone to notice her.
     So I didn’t.
As we got comfortable working together though, something happened. I’m thinking Ivy had a hand in Bryn’s slow transformation. She actually makes eye contact when she speaks to me, and she’s become somewhat animated. Started to wear bolder colors as well, drawing my attention to her chest though I keep my eyes averted as best I can.
These subtle changes made me notice all of the little things—like the color of her eyes (blue), how her hair looks (like silk and I want to touch it), and the tempting fullness of her lips (they’re spectacular).
Her gaze lingers when she looks at me and sometimes so does mine. Her smile softens, her voice drops lower when she speaks, sparking my imagination. Would she sound like that right before I kissed her? Took off her clothes? Took her to my bed?
Yeah. All of those are dangerous thoughts. I almost prefer the old Miss James. The one who was like the wallpaper—boring and nondescript. Mean to say, but hell, the last thing I need is a distraction.
And she’s become the biggest distraction I’m currently facing. The very last one I need.
