I had one goal.
Win an Olympic Medal.

Winning the Ladies Figure Skating Olympic Gold Medal should be my only focus, but my life has other plans for me. My father, the U. S. Senator, and my Stepmonster like to remind me that my role in our family comes with great expectations — and even greater responsibility.

Translation: Marry a man that will make them even more prestigious and powerful.

But that’s not my plan.

I have one last chance to prove myself.
And now, on top of everything else, I have to aid the sexy as sin Detective Kane F**king Green in finding the person who killed my friend.

My name is Sophia Eleonore Dubois, and holy mother of Dorothy Hamill, my life just got complicated . . .

*Excerpt*
I look at Shelby. Her eyes are wide, and she has her palm pressed over her mouth to keep her laughter inside. I smile at her. She knows we were together last night because they walked in on us this morning. I was mortified. But Shelby helped me laugh off my humiliation.
“Quick, man,” I hear Trent say to Kane. “While the girls are next door, answer me this . . .”
“What?” Kane sighs. He doesn’t sound as happy as I feel, and a frown pulls on my face.
“Do you know what you’re doing with her?” Trent asks.
“I’m not sure how that’s any of your business,” Kane barks out.
Good. He’s defending our privacy.
“You have to see she’s falling for you, brother,” Trent says softly. “So I have to ask you—do you know what you’re doing here?”
“With Tinker Bell?”
“Yeah,” Trent sighs.
“Don’t worry. I’m doing what I always do.” He pauses, and I wonder what it is he always does, when he answers my silent question. “I get in, I get off, and I get the fuck out.”
I gasp. I don’t mean to, but his crude words cut me to the core. Both men look up and notice Shelby and me creeping around the doorway.
“Sophia,” Kane says softly. His words will hurt. I know that, but it’s the pity I hear in his voice that does me in.
I’m already backing up, holding my hands up in mock surrender. And, boy, did I surrender. I surrendered my body, my soul, my virginity. And now, my dignity. I look up over my shoulder for an escape.
“No, really, it’s f-f-fine,” I whisper before I turn around and run.
“Sophia! Wait,” he shouts, but I’m running fast. I’ve been training for months, and all that conditioning finally pays off because by the time he makes it to the parking garage, I’ll already be gone.
I was wrong. Kane isn’t my Prince Charming, my knight in shining armor. He’s just a stupid boy, and I’m just stupid. But I won’t be. Not anymore.
I run down the hall, not hearing the officer call out to me. I choose not to wait for the elevator that is never there when I need it. Instead, I slam open the door to the stairwell and run down every last one. All twenty-one flights.
I just make it to the garage floor and push open the door, glad I pocketed my keys when we left my condo after I changed clothes, when arms wrap around me from behind. I figured Kane would catch up with me eventually, but not this fast.
Then I notice that these aren’t Kane’s arms. And a meaty hand with very hairy knuckles shoves a foul-smelling cloth into my face.
“Good night, Pride and Joy,” he says in Russian, and then it’s lights out. It would appear I’m being kidnapped.
