*My Thoughts*
I finally watched this movie... All I can say is that it was very entertaining. Granted there was a lot of comments made about this film. However, I found Gods of Egypt to be enjoyable to watch. The romance and the mysticism of Egyptian mythology was brought to the screen in this film.
The cinematography was colorful and bright... with a touch of the sci-fi to it. The cast brought an animated and engaging in a humoristic and light-hearted way. The story was cohesive and fluid. Elements of romance and mythology intertwined with the action moved the story forward.
I enjoyed the attempt to take mythology of Egyptian gods into a modern and sci-fi direction making this a fun movie. To add to the mysticism of the gods, elements of the paranormal adds to this fantasy.
I'm not even going into the whole debate of "historical accuracy" with this film. That's the point, it's supposed to be a fun fantasy movie. They took the mythology and enchantment of these Egyptian gods and made it into this... a colorful and lively film that all ages can enjoy. It would be very interesting if they continued down this "road." It seems like there could be more stories stemming off from this film, especially with the vast mythology surrounding Egyptian gods.
