MY THOUGHTS: Lucifer Season 1 Episode 5 - "Sweet Kicks"
About the Show
Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar has resigned his throne and retired to the City of Angels, where he owns an upscale piano bar called Lux. When a beautiful pop star is murdered, for the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him. Is he actually capable of feelings for a human being? The very thought disturbs him. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective Chloe Decker, who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. At the same time, God's emissary, the angel Amenadiel, has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to Hell. But with the City of Angels at his feet and a newfound purpose, Lucifer's having too much fun to go back now.
Based on the comic book series by:
Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar
Lauren German as Chloe Decker
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze
D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel
Rachael Harris as Dr. Kim Martin
Kevin Alejandro as Dan
Scarlett Estevez as Trixie
After a shooting occurs at a fashion show and a young woman is killed, Lucifer begs Chloe to get in on the case.
Huh...Lucifer is like a child with a new toy. His fascination with getting hurt and mortality has definitely put him in harms way. However, when it is time to dish out punishment, low and behold, the Devil shows his face. This season is progressing nicely! I even enjoyed seeing more of Maze! She is one badass...for being a demon...haha! Well, Maze definitely has a challenge ahead of her in regards to protecting Lucifer AND reminding him that he IS the Devil...AND that the Devil should return to Hell. However, Lucifer is having way too much fun working with Detective Chloe. Even Amenadiel has his work cut out in getting Lucifer to go back to Hell.
What an unlikely alliance between Maze and Amenadiel, whether they like it or not (pretty much NOT), but they both want the same thing...for Lucifer to return to Hell. It is apparent that the lines between Angels and Demons have been blurred. Maze knows that Detective Chloe is one major factor for Lucifer's fascination with mortality.
Very demonic to see Maze's true reflection in the mirror. Amenadiel sets himself near the doctor since he needs to find out what Lucifer's weaknesses are in order to use it get Lucifer to return to Hell. It is apparent that Maze is NOT "happy" that Lucifer no longer confides in her. However, she remains loyal to him and maintains that she will always protect him.
Seeing a bit more of the "devilish" side of Lucifer, but I still am looking for more of the supernatural side of these Angel and Demon characters. This is definitely a series that has humor, drama, and traditional battle between good and evil...blurred lines and all.
For now, here's a preview of Episode 6 - "Favorite Son"
