RELEASE DAY BLITZ: Walkin' on the Sun: The Official Smash Mouth Biography written by Paul DeLisle

I could not be more excited to feature this new release! Who hasn't rocked out to the music of Smash Mouth?! Now you can go behind the music with a band that carried the spirit of a generation in Walkin' on the Sun; The Official Smash Mouth Biography

Blurb:
Hello. My name is Paul DeLisle. I’m the guy who wrote this book. You've probably never heard of me. That's okay. Most people wouldn't know me from Adam. But, unless you've been living in a cloistered monastery for the last fifteen years, you have heard of my band.

So begins the memoir of the creation, rise, and current state of the multi-platinum recording artist Smash Mouth as told by bassist Paul DeLisle. Well known for their hits “All Star,” “Walking on the Sun,” “Then the Morning Comes,” “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby,” and “I’m a Believer,” the band carried the spirit of a generation, but didn't stop there. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look from Paul’s unique, there from the start, insider’s view.

Excerpt:
There's an episode of Cheers where washed-up ball player Sam Malone, frustrated with either Diane or Rebecca, proclaims, "Y'know, most people don't know this ... but I’m famous!"

I love that line. I can totally relate. You see, I am a founding and continued member of the band Smash Mouth. Yet I am, proudly and alas, the bass player. I’m not famous. My band is.

From the beginning, Smash Mouth was set up as a democracy between four musicians and a manager, each player having an equal voice on band matters. Yet we were all fully aware and accepting of the fact that, as lead singer/frontman, Steve Harwell would be getting a disproportionate amount of attention. Seeing as he is the face and mouthpiece of Smash Mouth, you may be a little disappointed he didn't write this book.

But stay with me here. Because as you'll see, I have a unique vantage point: as one of only four original constituents, I’ve been involved in every aspect of the band since day one. Only Steve and I have trod every step of this Smash Mouth journey. Also, while traditionally under-recognized, the bass player himself sees everything. Plus I went to college. Who better to write a book about Smash Mouth?

That said, keep in mind this book is solely from my point of view. Steve, Greg, Kevin, and Robert would obviously have different takes on certain events. However, this book is simply intended as a comprehensive account of our rise to fame and continued success.

So without further ado ... here’s what happened:

EEP!!! How awesome is that! Pick up your copy of Walkin' on the Sun today and get your own "backstage pass" to the world of Smash Mouth!

*Excerpt*

The van door behind us slides shut. A click signals Marianne’s adherence to my wishes, and then we three descend upon the front door, the crunch of dead leaves and twigs beneath our feet cutting through the uneasy silence the gloom sunrise has brought. In a surprising show of gentlemanly manners, the A.D. moves to open the door. When the handle does not depress, a half smile curves his lips. “It’s locked. But no worries. I can have it picked open in no time.”
“There is no need.”
Darkish-blonde brows scrunch together. “But—”
“Stand to the side, please.”
When he fails to move at my thinly veiled order, Mary not so gently yanks our companion away.
The door before us is thick. The handle is ornate. It is a beautiful door, no doubt chosen specifically to adorn a building as fine as Bücherei. It takes me three strong, measured swings of my war hammer against the handle and its surrounding area to break it apart and permanently scar its beauty. Picking a lock is kind, respectful even. A picked lock can be relocked. I do not wish this door to close behind me. I do not wish to be respectful of Bücherei.
The time for genteel manners is gone.
The A.D. is in danger of catching flies with his mouth as he ogles the door’s remnants. For someone who professes to be so clever, he certainly underestimates ladies far too often.
Stale darkness, oppressive and opaque all at once, looms before us. I am unafraid, though. I am not even taken aback. I believe in the impossible, after all. I have seen, lived the impossible.
I step past the wreckage into the house.

JASMINE's THOUGHTS on The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich

Genre:
Adult
Sports Contemporary Romance
Publish Date:
March 24, 2015
Publisher:
William Morrow Paperbacks

Synopsis:
The amazing Stephanie Evanovich returns with The Sweet Spot, the sizzling story of everyone's favorite couple from her New York Times bestseller Big Girl Panties: hunky professional baseball player Chase Walker and his sassy wife Amanda.

When pro-baseball player Chase Walker first meets Amanda at her restaurant, it's love at first sight. While Amanda can't help noticing the superstar with the Greek-god-build, he doesn't have a chance of getting to first--or any other--base with her. A successful entrepreneur who's built her business from scratch, Amanda doesn't need a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. And a curvy girl who likes to cook and eat isn't interested in being around the catty, stick-thin herd of females chasing Chase and his teammates.

But Chase isn't about to strike out. A man who isn't interested in playing the field, he's a monogamist who wants an independent woman like Amanda. His hopes rally when she discovers that squeaky-clean Chase has a few sexy and very secret pre-game rituals that turn the smart, headstrong businesswoman on--and into his number one fan.

Then a tabloid discovers the truth and turns their spanking good fun into a late-night punchline. Is Amanda ready to let loose and swing for the fences? Or will the pressure of Chase's stardom force them to call it quits?

*My Thoughts*

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

The Sweet Spot is a fun and funny romance that also had it's fair share of drama to make this a delightful read. However, after reading the synopsis, I don't think the cover has any connection to the story at all...misleading! It didn't matter anyways, I was already intrigued and drawn in by the synopsis. At first glance, The Sweet Spot seems to be a prequel Big Girl Panties...as in the story behind Amanda and Chase's relationship. Well then, good thing I read this first before Big Girl Panties...I'll already know their history...with all their secrets and flaws.

Stephanie Evanovich has created well developed characters with strong and independent personalities. I totally enjoyed Chase and Amanda's playful antics and flirty banter. I also loved that Stephanie's female lead character isn't sexy thin. Yup, romance can come in all shapes and sizes. Totally love her for that! Then there is the development of the setting in which the story takes place...well intertwined and well described with their lives as a restaurant entrepreneur and a pro-baseball player. Their story got me laughing, tearing up, and holding my breath from beginning to end. But...it wasn't all "sugar and spice" with this love story...there's also the "naughty" side. Ever since the popularity of the Fifty Shades books, BDSM is a topic that is trending in many books. The Sweet Spot is no different. Although, on the lighter side of it, Chase and Amanda's relationship is filled with love, laughs, and then some.

The Sweet Spot is a romantic comedy that has its fair share of passion, mischief, and scandal that makes this a comical yet captivating read. But, I do have to say that the topic involving BDSM (although it isn't as hard core as other books) is not for everyone. Read this with an open mind...not judging here.
